file:// works for me, but so does local:// so I'll update it if it fixes your issue.

Thank you for this package, however I had a small issue: ==> Making package: vmware-vcli 6.0.0.3561779-2 (Tue Nov 15 13:25:27 PST 2016) ... ==> Retrieving sources... -> Found for-arch.patch ==> ERROR: Unknown download protocol: file Aborting... I had to replace the source entries: source_i686=(local://VMware-vSphere-CLI-$_pkgver.i386.tar.gz) source_x86_64=(local://VMware-vSphere-CLI-$_pkgver.x86_64.tar.gz) This was with Pacman v5.0.1 - libalpm v10.0.1

OK fixed the executable bit, thanks.

Thank you, I found the required file and successfully made the package. However, after installing, I had to set executable bit for /usr/lib/vmware-vcli/bin/esxcli/esxcli.

Try this link https://my.vmware.com/group/vmware/get-download?downloadGroup=VCLI60U2. There I see "Build Number 3561779".

Is it a mistake in the version number? The last version that I can find in 'My VMWare' is VMware-vSphere-CLI-6.0.0-2503617.

Any reason this has been out of date for over a year? If you are not able or willing to update, please disown so someone else can take over. Thanks

You need get the tarball from vmware.com. Then put the tarball to folder with file PKGBUILD and run makepkg command.

latest version is 2043780, please update! after manually updating PKGBUILD for the latest version, pacman -U spits out: error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files) vmware-vcli: /lib exists in filesystem
