@Ashark Is the deletion request necessary? The name should be freed once amdgpu-pro-installer is updated to remove "amf-amdgpu-pro" from the pkgname array, and in any case the name amf should be free right now.

@EnSER thx for clarifying it, i did not mean to say its dead, i mean that its not in the scope of this package as its created and refactoring it dont seems to make sense, so a new package called AMF is a better approach for now on

Reply to my comment, https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/amf-amdgpu-pro#comment-1045680
It was my GPU hardware that was broken. Replacing the GPU with a Radeon 6800 worked.

@EnSER I have submitted a deletion request for this amdgpu-pro-installer. So, the amf-amdgpu-pro name will be freed. However, possibly, such name will no longer be appropriate. The new name most likely will be just amf.

Because there seems to be much confusion about AMF, here is current information:
-
AMF is not dead, see
https://github.com/GPUOpen-LibrariesAndSDKs/AMF/issues/557#issuecomment-3397812871 -
AMF binaries are now at
https://repo.radeon.com/amf/25.20/ubuntu/pool/main/noble/

AMF is now packaged separately from the amdgpu-pro stack.
This currently packages 1.4.37 while 1.5.0 is available on github: https://github.com/GPUOpen-LibrariesAndSDKs/AMF/releases/tag/v1.5.0
I recommend remove amf-amdgpu-pro from this package and making it its own package now that the amdgpu-pro stack is no longer distributed.
the new AMD pro is very different the build structure and the refactor just dont make sense, and all the reasons for this package is the amdgpu-pro AMF and such, this package is now finally in end state, so i`ll stop to maintain it and ask for a removal of the package, if anyone want to maintain fell free to get, but i really dont see a reason without AMF there
i tried my best to keep it running for the last years even with the AMD just changing everything from time to time i hope that i helped anyone, good luck guys and see ya

@dudesss hey, its strange this gpu should work out of box with mesa, but anyway you cannot find the amdgpu-pro-installer because its the base, build all with
git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/amdgpu-pro-installer.git
cd amdgpu-pro-installer
makepkg -si
or with yay
yay -S amf-amdgpu-pro amdgpu-pro-oglp lib32-amdgpu-pro-oglp vulkan-amdgpu-pro lib32-vulkan-amdgpu-pro
hope i helped u

mesa and mesa-git is failing to boot amdgpu on my system. I need to press e and set nomodeset on my boot loader when booting.
Fedora live USB was also failing to boot after the bootloader.
Windows boots fine.
I tried linux-lts as well on my ArchLinux system, and changing my systemd boot loader to use it, and no success.
I have a 6900xt GPU, 5900x CPU, b550m-plus motherboard.
Someone mentioned trying AMDs proprietary drivers to see if it would work, although I see everywhere recommending Mesa -- including AMD Inc migrating to Mesa, I want to try AMD's supplied drivers to see if they will work.
My yay package manager isn't able to find amdgpu-pro-installer
Am I supposed to build the project a different way? I've never built packages by using PKGBUILD, and I'm not sure if that would give different results than yay.
I see various other packages in yay, but from what I see here https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/AMDGPU_PRO, the amdgpu-pro-installer packages all of these: aur/amdgpu-pro-oglp aur/vulkan-amdgpu-pro aur/amf-amdgpu-pro aur/lib32-amdgpu-pro-oglp

The minor version is in the Noble, just go for all the problem to test and make sure it works in noble for a small change don't seems to be worth, at least if it don't fix anything great, if anyone need this small bump is easy to run the scripts to generate with noble, but I'll not be able to help with issues.
Just to be clear, it's not that the package will be inside mesa, just the great part that why this package was made for will now be part of mesa. If no new proprietary folder appear this package will not update too
niobium93 commented on 2025-10-04 07:27 (UTC)
6.4.4 also contains packages with a slightly higher minor version for 24.04 - 2203192 vs. 2202160. Wouldn't it be better to update to this?
Also, to be clear, the pro driver isn't and will never be part of mesa. It was an optional alternative to mesa and is now discontinued. Mesa continues to contain it's own RadeonSI and RADV drivers for AMD.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
updated to 6.4.4, from this version up it changed to 7.x the 7.x don't seem to have the proprietary driver in the jammy or noble(7.0.0 and 7.0.1), so it seems that the driver is already at mesa !!! it means that it will not receive any update on forward, i will wait just to make sure but it seems the 6.4.4 is the last pro driver :)

IF PROBLEM HAPPEN
this package is our try to put amdgpu in ARCH, but this could break or have problems as amd update and change their packages for ubuntu
if anything happens you can always download a older tag in https://github.com/Ashark/archlinux-amdgpu-pro/releases and get the PKGBUILD there, and use makepkg with that build while we update or try to fix :)
ALWAYS USE LINUX-FIRMWARE-GIT IF LATEST DRIVER FAIL BEFORE ISSUE SOME ERROR
