If you have the "ERROR: One or more files failed the validity check!" problem, try cleaning your AUR cache first, and try again.

[ATTENTION] The new international version ( removed zh_CN support, login, and some other functions. If you still want full functions, or you want aarch64 support, you may need the Chinese version from here:

Universebenzene commented on 2019-10-26 05:46 (UTC) (edited on 2019-10-26 07:10 (UTC) by Universebenzene)

I split the /usr/share/mime/packages/wps-office-*.xml files to the wps-office-mime package to avoid mime issues. If you still want the mime files provided by wps-office itself, you can install the new mime package.

Universebenzene commented on 2019-07-05 17:08 (UTC)

There is no official 32-bit package for version, so I drop the support for i686 arch. For archlinux32 users you can create another wps-office package for 32-bit system yourself.

Universebenzene commented on 2019-04-16 13:34 (UTC)

When you shut down wps-office, the wpsoffice process may still exist. You can do sudo chmod -x /usr/lib/office6/wpsoffice to fix it. But this might bring you problem with signing in.

About the software issues, you can go to the official feedback problem. I'm just a packager, I can not solve the software problem.

i use 4K monitor with 200% scaled. I try to fix font rendering for hidpi monitor.

dot not use QT_SCALE_FACTOR=2 for wps, and use QT_FONT_DPI=192.

I added the following to the file /usr/bin/{wps,et,wpp,wpspdf} head.

export QT_FONT_DPI=192

jesusdc commented on 2021-11-01 22:01 (UTC) (edited on 2021-11-02 22:47 (UTC) by jesusdc)

@tornad099, yes, I'm using KDE. It doesn't work, though. BTW, I found another user who reported the same problem 5 years ago, and his screen resolution was 1920x1080, which has the same proportion as mine (1366x768). Also, looking at the changelog of the latest official Linux build it says "introduced HIDPI support"; perhaps, that's what screwed everything up. Because as I mentioned in my first post, it doesn't happen on the previous build I tested ( version).

I also tried on a VM, and everything's fine with the touchpad scrolling there. ¿Any other thoughts? I'm willing to try anything just to see if we can get that sorted.

Edit: I've just tried with a mouse and the scrolling is perfectly fine, it seems the problem relies on the touchpad. I still think the "System DPI is asymmetric" warning has to do with it.

tornado99 commented on 2021-11-01 10:47 (UTC)

@jesusdc, could you try putting env QT_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTORS=1 in the .desktop file (assuming you are using KDE)?

or you can try just going back to an older build. i think they are still on the server if you know the filename.

jesusdc commented on 2021-10-29 23:28 (UTC) (edited on 2021-10-30 01:50 (UTC) by jesusdc)

Hey there guys, I'm getting the following error, "system DPI is asymmetric. WPS Office may have display issues", and what it causes is the touchpad scrolling to be unbearably fast. So I tested with older builds in descendant order, and it doesn't happen on version. Specifically this one:

I've googled in every possible way, but can't seem to find an answer. I would stick to the build mentioned above that works for me, but it has the dark theme glitch, and it also crashes when trying to open external links from a document.

I'd appreciate any clue, I don't want to give up on WPS as it's the only office suite I can use due to its compatibility.

Edit: Just in case, the warning is shown in the system check box that appears in the first launch, usually with the other warning if ttf-wps-fonts are not installed. Heres's a screenshot:

@kem1o Actually although you can set locale outside, there aren't any Italian support inside wps software. Sorry for that

I can't see ibus input during typing if "Embed preedit text in application window" is enable (by default), all other applications work fine with this, only WPS has this error. Please support better Preedit and Surrounding text, ForwardKeyEvent... in Ibus and Fcitx, these input methods are very import for non-English typing.

@matt17br: In et.kuip The style responsible for the autofilter is named "AutoFilter". Starting from the version of this particular style I found in the skin named "2018white_dark", I tweaked the colors until I found something I can use. I settled on changing the color named "content-background" to something dark ("#232323") and "filterthis-selectall-text" to something very visible ("#ff0000").

<style class="AutoFilter" base="common"><color name="background" value="#28292B"/><color name="title-background" value="#353638"/><color name="filteritem-split" value="#666666"/><color name="filterthis-normal" value="#5c9b32"/><color name="filterthis-hover" value="#7ab950"/><color name="filterthis-text" value="#ffffff"/><color name="tab-bottom-hover" value="#42b386"/><color name="tab-bottom-normal" value="#c8c8c8"/><color name="content-border" value="#b6c1cc"/><color name="content-background" value="#232323"/><color name="content-background-xa" value="#28292B"/><color name="treeheader-background" value="#eaeaea"/><color name="btn-text" value="#FFFFFFB8"/><color name="tab-text-normal" value="#FFFFFFB8"/><color name="common-text" value="#FFFFFFCC"/><color name="filterthis-selectall-text" value="#ff0000"/><linearGradient name="filterthis-normal" spread="pad" start="0,0" end="0,1"><color position="0" value="#5c9b32"/><color position="1" value="#5c9b32"/></linearGradient><linearGradient name="filterthis-hover" spread="pad" start="0,0" end="0,1"><color position="0" value="#7ab950"/><color position="1" value="#7ab950"/></linearGradient></style>

@curlywei, For who can't see fcitx5 input during typing, try to disable show preedit in application option in Fcitx 5 > Global Options.

tornado99 commented on 2021-08-14 16:19 (UTC)

Just to add that the true dark theme, which you can download from here:, is now no longer buggy on WPS, and works well. You can also edit /home/[user]/.local/share/Kingsoft/office6/skinsv2/default/histroy.ini to add paths to extra skin folders, then change lastSkin= to the one you want. WPS Office does try to overwrite this file when it quits, so you will have to change permissions to read only.

matt17br commented on 2021-08-12 14:04 (UTC)

@CalzzOne, thanks a lot for the insight. Your second solution doesn't seem to make a difference on my end, whereas your first solution works in that the menu bar on wps now has an actual dark theme, however the issue I still encounter is the following:

As @flavio92ux pointed out the other day, the only fix that seems to work for me is running et as root, but your fix seems to work for him and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Just a minor annoyance but still pretty weird.

@matt17br, @tornado99, @flavio92ux : I "fixed" the dark skin issue by modifying the theme files. In /usr/lib/office6/skins/ there are a bunch of folders, but WPS is only aware of 2019dark and 2019white. 2018white_dark palys nice with dark KDE themes. You have 2 options:

  1. rename 2018white_dark to 2019dark
  2. edit 2019dark/et.kuip file itelf. This file contains a bunch of <style>...</style> tags. Replace or edit the tag named "EtEditBarWidget" with the following data:

<style class="EtEditBarWidget"><linearGradient name="background" spread="pad" start="0,0" end="0,1"><color position="0" value="#e8e8e8"/></linearGradient><color name="background" value="#ffffff"/><color name="text" value="#000000"/></style>.

The background and 'text` were missing. Now that I know how theme files work, I am going to explore this and customize wps even further.

matt17br commented on 2021-08-10 23:34 (UTC)

"You can edit the actual files in /usr/bin/wps wpp et to include these 2 lines: (gOpt= is already there)

export GTK2_RC_FILES=/usr/share/themes/Breeze/gtk-2.0/gtkrc"

@tornado99 this fix used to work before this new version came out, but unfortunately I have to report that it doesn't seem to fix anything for me anymore. I was able to fix the pixelation editing the desktop files, but the weird theme artifacts are still a concern using a dark theme by default.

How to fix wps spreadsheet breeze dark theme issue (KDE Plasma)? P.S. the command from Arch wiki (env GTK2_RC_FILES=/usr/share/themes/Breeze/gtk-2.0/gtkrc et -style gtk+) dont work for me.

The only temporary solution was to run it as root (because my root user have a light theme) but should have better solution.

tornado99 commented on 2021-08-06 09:58 (UTC)

You have to change the [Desktop Entry] in usr/share/applications/wps-office-wps.desktop and the other 3 wps files to: Exec=env QT_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTORS=1... That fixes the pixellation but it doesn't turn back on RGB antialiasing for low dpi displays.

theriddick commented on 2021-08-05 23:36 (UTC)

wps-office is all pixelated for me even with QT_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTORS=1, and the stupid spell checker still doesn't work, (no underlining words or even noticing them).

ppc52776 commented on 2021-08-05 19:24 (UTC) (edited on 2021-08-05 19:31 (UTC) by ppc52776)

@tornado99, I found the problem. Need to set KDE Display Global Scaling to 100% or set the QT_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTORS environment to empty or 1. But disable global scaling makes icon/window/font too small. Font size can be enlarge by setting font dpi, but icon/window is still too small.

tornado99 commented on 2021-08-05 11:58 (UTC) (edited on 2021-08-05 12:00 (UTC) by tornado99)

@ppc52776, seems to have upgraded the included Qt from 4.7 to 5.12. This is good news as subpixel positioning of characters should now be supported, so text spacing should improve. On the other hand, they seem to have switched from RGB font antialiasing to grayscale antialising on low dpi screens (e.g. 1080p, QHD). It looks clear on my screens but I'm puzzled why they made this change. Also, it still ignores any system hinting settings.

ppc52776 commented on 2021-08-05 01:50 (UTC)

Font rendering in today's version is ugly.

tornado99 commented on 2021-06-28 15:18 (UTC)

On my system WPS appears to ignore the font hinting setting. My /home/[user]/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf file exists. If I switch sub-pixel rendering from RGB to None, and restart WPS it obeys that. But switching hinting from slight to none or full doesn't change anything in WPS. Any way to fix this? Possibly something needs to be in /etc/fonts/local.conf or /etc/fonts/conf.d/?

@lewis2e I've done the exact same thing now, just got the old multi language files from the older snap version of the app (which works).

Same issue, selected en_AU Australian language, it changed to the correct spellcheck dict.. still doesn't work!

Would be nice if this package was updated with the language files from the older version since WPS seems content to strip languages from new releases (their dict license expired?). IE. /usr/lib/office6/dict and mui folders+files from v10.

lewis2e commented on 2021-02-21 08:49 (UTC)

@theriddick Weird, definitely works for me. Both real time spell check (Red squiggly lines under misspelled words) and the F7 step by step spell check. I can't explain why it works - I haven't made any changes beyond dropping the dict into /home/$USER/.local/share/Kingsoft/office6/dicts/

theriddick commented on 2021-02-21 04:13 (UTC) (edited on 2021-02-21 04:14 (UTC) by theriddick)

@lewis2e yeah I added my own dictionary but when selected it didn't spell check (found no spelling errors). The dictionary was added correctly and showed up, even words were visible in it but it simply failed to spell check.

lewis2e commented on 2021-02-20 16:43 (UTC)

Spell check works for me just fine. It didn't come with any dictionaries, but I got the UK file from the WayBackMachine (the WPS Community website used to offer them as a download - don't know why they don't anymore). I'm also using Manjaro.

theriddick commented on 2021-02-20 12:51 (UTC) (edited on 2021-02-20 12:51 (UTC) by theriddick)

I just ended up installing the SNAP version 10.1.0 with multi-language support packaged in. This version here not only has missing languages but also no functional spellchecker (its broken).

So if those things bother you, the old snap version works. I don't know what WPS is doing but it also seems their website packaged versions has these things missing+broken.

After the manjaro system was updated to the latest software version through the terminal "yay -Syyu", why the wps cannot be opened? I uninstalled the software and reinstalled the wps from the aur, but it still did not work. What should I do, and thanks for your kind replys.

theriddick commented on 2021-02-16 10:53 (UTC)

@Universebenzene yes I see that, but is for the Chinese version. Unfortunately I was looking for the multi language english version. I found instructions elsewhere on howto do it however. UNFORTUNATELY there is a bug with WPS Office where it will not spell check words, so much for that.. lmao

fcitx5-wps make it possible to have an updated Fcitx5 module in WPS.
See here how it is built for Flatpak without the need to install or build QT 4.7.4. Further information is available in this blog post (use Google Translate if needed).

Except for updating the Fcitx module it also solves the problem of having to set QT_IM_MODULE=fcitx5 instead of fcitx.

With the latest Fcitx5 5.0.4 we actually don't need this if the fcitx4frontend addon is enabled, and it is by default, but I thought it worth posting here.

Still problems with mime. Every time after writing microsoft type of document, WPS rewrite Override.xml in @HOME/.local/share/mime/application. So I had to patch \usr\lib\office6\ from to change this. That's real problem with mime types, not only google drive don't recognize documents, any software that need to check mime type, for example, in my CRM internal viewer can't show file contents.

Hi @Universebenzene,

Thanks for the package, but there are several things can be improved:

  1. depends of PKGBUILD are outdated, missing a lot of libraries and some of the libraries are redundant. Use ldd to find the correct libraries.
  2. Package like this should be installed under /opt instead of /usr, see this wiki for more info
  3. What's the point of spliting into two packages? I know that you also made a mine package for cn version and they cannot be installed together, but can two versions of wps office installed side by side?
  4. What's the point of leaving outdated source and code in PKGBUILD?
  5. Please remove the post_install message, it's outdated and I don't understand why do we need that.
  6. Use rpm as source would be better as you do not need extra step to extract data.tar.xz.

I'm happy to be the maintainer if you do not have the time.

google drive don't recognize docx, xlsx and all the office files from linux because of wps mime type - "mimeType": "application/wps-office.docx" for example instead of "application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document" can you change this behavior? Or may be tell how to repair it? Thanx. I've found decision: sudo rm -rf /usr/share/mime/packages/wps-office* rm -rf $HOME/.local/share/mime/packages/Override.xml sudo update-mime-database /usr/share/mime update-mime-database $HOME/.local/share/mime

@brent.thierens Here the package is the Intl version of WPS, which actually doesn't have an aarch64 version. Instead you can use the cn version , which does have the aarch64 support.

Can ARM64 (AArch64) support be added? I modified the PKGBUILD manually and it works just fine by only modifying the download link. The package can be found here: It is in Chinese, but Google Translate helps for that. I don't think the ARM version is available on the international website yet. The application is in English however. Direct download: It would be nice to be able to use my pamac instead of updating it manually every time :)

@Universebenzene [POSSIBLE BUG & WORKAROUND] WPS takes 25 seconds to start on Manjaro.

When WPS starts, it talks to dbus-daemon and fails for some reason, so that it will only start after a 25-second dbus AT bridge timeout.

I myself add the following line, as a workaround, to /usr/bin/wps, /usr/bin/wpp, /usr/bin/et, and /usr/bin/wpspdf,

How does this happen?

As the author metions in Jan, this package has another version that is designed for zh_cn users due to some decisions made by wps. So there are two version, the international one which don't support login zh_CN and other functions, and the other one maintains such functions, it's called wps-office-cn, which is also maintained by this author.

For those of you experiencing slow download speeds for the latest file, just use uget and crank up the number of connections to 16 or whatever your max is.

After the file is downloaded (took 7 mins for me, sheesh), copy it to the cache folder of your aur helper. I use yay, so ~/.cache/yay/wps-office/. Now when you reattempt the update, it should just pick up the file you downloaded and continue with that.

wps (WPS Writer) crashes immediately after I click "New Document". wpp (WPS Presentation) and et (WPS Spreadsheets) are fine. I am using a freshly installed Manjaro MATE 18.1.0. I tried to launch wps from the terminal, but the crash does not give any error message. Anyone encountered the same problem?

Edit: I found that this crash is because of the lack of the wps-office-fonts package. Please mark wps-office explicitly depend on wps-office-fonts.

lewis2e commented on 2019-09-22 07:30 (UTC)

Please consider listing ttf-ms-fonts as an optional dependency. wps-office was not usable until I installed ttf-ms-fonts, as the fonts that it defaults to were missing and caused Writer to crash if you typed anything. Using KDE.

timxx commented on 2019-09-12 01:01 (UTC)

@Universebenzene Please add ttf-dejavu as a dependency, the math needs DejaVu Math TeX Gyre font(or other math font). Or you can use the one contains in the wps office package. (They also packaged the mtextra.tff font)

lewis2e commented on 2019-09-11 10:01 (UTC)

@Vistaus I had this exact problem. I installed this on my laptop with no issues. Then, I tried to install it on my desktop and got the same problem you have. I resolved it removing the wps-office package and starting fresh (git clone, makepkg, pacman -U). The second time it installed correctly. I am not sure why. The only thing I noticed is that the second time makepkg -s seemed to pick up open-ssl as a missing dependency and install it. Not sure that happened the first time. Anyway, try removing it and starting fresh.

Solution might be weird, but it worked:

@felixonmars Please be careful when adding changes, there was request by me before to avoid build errors when build is done in custom dirs (which can potentially have space), so...

To avoid build errors in such circumstances, please use quotes around paths in PKGBUILD 60-69

felixonmars commented on 2019-07-11 01:58 (UTC)

@ppc52776 I think I figured it out. The old .install script somehow installed a lot of files under /usr/local, including /usr/local/share/mime. This was fixed in the new version but the old files were left out. Having both versions of the mime info leads to a deadlock and thus broke my system. This was fixed after I cleaned up /usr/local for those wps-office files.

ppc52776 commented on 2019-07-11 01:52 (UTC)

@felixonmars I have this problem too. The mime info of wps-office also causes xlsx/pptx/docx been treat as zip file. My solution is to delete these mime files from /usr/share/mime/packages/wps-office-*.xml and regenerate mime cache.

felixonmars commented on 2019-07-10 14:14 (UTC)

I got a problem with the new version: mime info included in the new version contains several aliases, which introduces a lot of crashes for me. Not sure if anyone else got this as well.

For example, when browsering any folder with a .xls file, dolphin/dde-file-manager will deadlock and eat a lot of RAM until OOM killed; nautilus/caja will segfault immediately (the backtrace shows tens of thousands levels of the same address in This can be resolved by removing the "<alias type="application/msexcel"/>" line from /usr/share/mime/packages/wps-office-et.xml and regenerate the mime cache.

I have checked that mime info in the old version ( doesn't contain the offending aliases. Hopefully someone else can confirm this and make it into a workaround or resolved upstream.

Universebenzene commented on 2019-07-08 16:03 (UTC)

@exaos Please read the pinned comments. There is a solution for the running wpsoffice process on the background.

exaos commented on 2019-07-08 15:47 (UTC)

I have to uninstall this package. I will never try it again. Its malware behavior begins under Linux system now: 1. it will force change your PDF reader to WPS PDF. 2. it will keep its process background without knowing what it will do.

crab2313 commented on 2019-07-08 13:42 (UTC)

The latest version of wps-office just prevent nautilus from generating thumbnails for PDF documents. To fix it, just delete /usr/share/mime/packages/wps-office-pdf.xml and run update-mime-database /usr/share/mime.

Universebenzene commented on 2019-07-06 05:04 (UTC)

@Universebenzene One more thing i've noticed that WPS programs icons are kinda blurry at least with Deepin DE, .desktop files states:

And even though technically there are 256x256 icons available - still the actual files are kinda blurry... Is this WPS itself or package issue?

@Universebenzene sure, but you better try yourself because in my experience if you'll fix one there will be another so it would be faster for maintainer to catch -> fix -> try again)

keybreak commented on 2019-04-09 14:32 (UTC) (edited on 2019-04-09 14:35 (UTC) by keybreak)

@Universebenzene not sure what exactly, but if you try to build it from folder (which contains spaces in it's path like "/One Two/Three") with makepkg -s it will fail to build...

This usually happens because not all commands in script, which contains path are wrapped in quotes, for example something like cd "$mypathwithspaces" if not quoted will fail obviously)

Not big deal since you can build successfully within folder path without spaces, but just would be good tone to fix it :)

Universebenzene commented on 2019-04-09 14:19 (UTC)

keybreak commented on 2019-04-09 11:49 (UTC) (edited on 2019-04-09 11:51 (UTC) by keybreak)

Please fix all build scripts paths, to contain quotes around, so they can build in directories which contain spaces.

@attenuation: I just created my own PKGBUILD for this package so I noticed somethings I thought it's no good, can you update the PKGBUILD if it's suitable?

I think it should remove zh_CN in office6/mui because it failed on someone don't have zn_CN locale like me

rm -rf ${pkgname}${pkgver}${CARCH}/office6/mui/zh_CN

For depends I check with namcap are: openssl-1.0 glu qt4 libpng12 sdl2 libjpeg-turbo (make curl optional because it show in WPS, but I don't know why WPS need curl?)

For License file, EULA_linux may be more suitable than EULA?

For package location, I think it's better to install in /opt/kingsoft/wps-office, because gInstallPath will fallback to /opt/kingsoft/wps-office by default in wps-office bash script (et wpp wps)

For people are using dark theme like me, maybe you like put this into prepare() function in PKBUILD

sed -i -e 's/%f/-style Cleanlook %f/' ${pkgname}${pkgver}${CARCH}/resource/applications/wps*

my pkgbuild (my install script is only printf function):

satriani commented on 2018-11-07 17:21 (UTC) (edited on 2018-11-07 21:34 (UTC) by satriani)

Here's a quick fix for the theme issue sudo sed -i 's|${gInstallPath}/office6/${gApp} |${gInstallPath}/office6/${gApp} -style gtk+ |g' /bin/et /bin/wpp /bin/wps

@Universebenzene maybe you include this pach to the PKGBUILD. Somethink like this: echo $XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP | grep GNOME > /dev/null 2>&1 && sed -i 's|${gInstallPath}/office6/${gApp} |${gInstallPath}/office6/${gApp} -style gtk+ |' et wpp wps

Also I whould include a ms-fonts patch, like this:

cd /tmp
git clone
cd ttf-wps-fonts
sudo bash
rm -rf /tmp/ttf-wps-fonts

@simgunz, thanks for this information. After remove wps related mime files, everything go back to normal now!!

simgunz commented on 2018-09-21 09:09 (UTC)

The three files: /usr/share/mime/packages/wps-office-*

breaks the MIME file associations of docx, xlsx, pptx files in manjaro. Indeed these files are seen as zip/archive. If we set a default application for docx, this app will be used to open pptx, xslx, and zip by default.

By removing those three files and updating the mime database with

sudo update-mime-database /usr/share/mime

everything works correctly again.

Maybe the package should be modified to not include them?

(I have libreoffice installed, not sure if removing the files and not having libreoffice breaks something else)

hottea commented on 2018-09-10 07:40 (UTC)

Just wondering what the main differences are between the new 6634 release and the older 5707 release? I had a look at the Chinese site, but my Chinese is not good enough to deal with it.

If the differences are minor, I'll stick with 5707.

It could be good to have a 'odf-converter' package as a required dependency to ensure out of the box compatibility with Open/Libre Office documents.

this article recommends the package for Open/Libre Office documents compatibility:

This package exists in the AUR as 'odf-converter':

@overclockedllama If you don't want the WPS Spreadsheets following the system color, run qtconfig-qt4 and change the Build Palette section to what you want and Save.

Or add -style=STYLE to the WPS commands, et -style=Cleanlooks for example.

timxx commented on 2018-06-21 13:07 (UTC)

@ppc52776 A workaround is that DO IT YOURSELF.

First, download the language from here: (Change zh_tw to other languages if someone interested).

Now unpack the mui_zh_tw.7z to ~/.kingsoft or /usr/lib (the full path should be ~/.kingsoft/office6/mui/zh_TW or /usr/lib/office6/mui/zh_TW.)

Finally, setup the LANG env to zh_TW.UTF-8 if your system is not the default. Or change the config for permanent: ~/.config/Kingsoft/Office.conf Add the following sections (or change the old value if already had): [General] languages=zh_TW

Too bad they removed the switch language entrance...

Open file dialog not working explanation and solution:

"...because most of the class names conficts with KDE's (KApplication, KDialog, etc, our product also use 'K' for class prefix :( ) So the open/save dialog in KDE we use kdialog, if you meet problem, you still can disable it.

Just add: export WPS_NO_KDE_NATIVE_DIALOG=1 to scripts "wps", "wpp", and "et" in /usr/bin

And after I installed symbol fonts which were claimed as needed by wps, formulas can be displayed correctly, but wps still warns on start. ps. I have found it might be caused by kdialog today. @miku84 The issue is in /usr/share/mime/packages/, with the wps-office-*.xml files. I have installed libreoffice and I have their xml file too, so I removed the wps-office-*.xml files and then I updated from console (sudo update-mime-database /usr/share/mime). That was my solution by now, I will check the wps-office-*.xml files later.

@dann1 Did you try a clean installation or did you execute it with the gtk style as commented below? @gmtrejo I had the same issue, do as I did: Download the previous version (wps-office_10.1.0.5672~a21_x86_64.tar.xz) from the next link: Then, extract the tar.xz and execute any programm inside the extraction (wps, wpp or et). Change the language and close the program. Now in the same folder go to Office6, and in the "mui" folder the downloaded languaje will be there. Copy the languaje folder to /lib/office6/mui/. Delete the tar.xz package and their extraction. Open any program (wps, wpp or et) and change the languaje. The network error is still there, but now you have installed the wished languaje.

wps not working properly on KDE. It prints: "Unexpected value after '--separate-output'."

micathia commented on 2017-02-28 12:42 (UTC)

Has anyone had the issue that I am having with wps? 1. new blank document; 2. create two or three lines with bullet points, the default round dot ones; 3. export to pdf. only to see the bullet points are missing. It's something to do with wingding copyright I think (i saw that warning on first run)? but I have all windows fonts copied to /usr/share/fonts before installing wps. cheers

I don't know why I couldn't install direct from the repository, the sources's URL are correct, but during the installationg it didn't download the wps's source and the installation failed. Then i download from browser the tar.xz, and altered the PKGBUILD to use the file that I downloaded, and it worked.

@rockrij I find including the option -style qt when launching solve the problem

kprkpr commented on 2016-04-07 07:49 (UTC)

Why that in the pkgbuild? PKGEXT=".pkg.tar" Without that, it compress the pkg into .pkg.tar.xz and results in a lot less hdd space to store it (Like almost all the pkgs in aur..)

vise890 commented on 2016-03-18 12:19 (UTC)

I was not able to install it from pacaur. Manual install worked..

dkoch84 commented on 2016-03-01 19:57 (UTC)

wps-office needs ttf-wps-fonts to avoid a sluggish start. perhaps this should be included as well?

rockrij commented on 2016-02-26 06:00 (UTC)

@Rainmaker, the problem is not with the icons. the cells in spreadsheet adapts the desktop theme. if the theme is light the cells are light too. if the theme is dark, the cells are dark too. the problem is with the cells, not icons. i don't have menu icon problems like yours, mine is fine. everything is fine except for the cells in spreadsheet.

Rainmaker commented on 2016-02-24 01:02 (UTC)

@rockrij; if you want to "fix" that (though I'm pretty sure it's actually "works as designed"), open the icons in /usr/share/<GTK Theme>/apps/<size>/wps-office* in GIMP and remove the transparency. The images have (I think intentionally) transparent edges, which causes the color of the icon to adept to your desktop theme.

rockrij commented on 2016-02-23 02:23 (UTC)

I'm using Xfce. When using a dark GTK theme, WPS Spreadsheet's cells become dark too. I searched a lot but I can't find a fix.

Rainmaker commented on 2016-02-22 14:59 (UTC)

Installed this application. It works, but the icons in the system menu are not displayed. Looking at the files installed, the icons will only work with hicolor, Captiva or Hawaii icon theme, and not with the default Adwaita theme. Any reason why these icons are not installed for the Adwaita theme?

Ok installing and updating through pacaur is what gave me the issues below. Manually building results in a successfull install, however it does get hung for an abnormal amount of time on the installing phase. Something is weird with regards to pacaur though.

brittyazel commented on 2015-12-23 02:33 (UTC)

The latest install does not seem to be working for me. Updating resulted in me still being on version 9.1. Uninstalling and reinstalling results in having no wps-office entries in my programs list. Trying to uninstall told me that it wasn't installed. The install isn't reporting any errors however.

The package installs a system-wide defaults.list and mimeapps.list. That makes it impossible to default to a different word processor without having to 'sudo rm /usr/share/applications/*.list' every time. Very annoying...

@jaydoc There are no 64-bit releases for quite some time (and not likely, in the foreseeable future). This PKGBUILD will install the 32-bit version with the help of [multilib] repo.

jaydoc commented on 2014-12-23 01:00 (UTC)

Is this suitable for a 64-bit system? WPS office was supposed to have a 64-bit version but the PKGBUILD seems to require 32 bit?

1) According to the notes of A16 in url:, I think the language packages can be removed from AUR now. 2) The version of wpsoffice-common will be fixed in 1.2 util the depends(libsm, libcups, etc) for wps change. aur/wpsoffice-common 1.2-1 -> That is a mistake made by command `mkaurball`. Sorry for losing sight of that. It seems that `mkaurball` behaves differently from `makepkg` in some details.

@brittyazel Yes, I'll upload under the correct name and merge this package back :)

brittyazel commented on 2014-08-16 11:34 (UTC)

As kingsoft office is now universally going as WPS office, will this package retain the kingsoft name? It may be confusing for users looking for WPS office, with no prior knowledge of kingsoft office roots

gurqn commented on 2014-08-16 11:27 (UTC)

Ah, I understand now. Thanks a lot for the info and thanks for update on package. Have a good day.

felixonmars commented on 2014-08-16 04:48 (UTC)

The previous tar.xz archive was missing icons/desktop/mime, so a deb was added to extract the missing part (the deb is missing language packs and fonts, on the other hand). Now since I've contacted Kingsoft to fix this and the new tar.xz was uploaded, I'll update the PKGBUILD soon, too.

gurqn commented on 2014-08-16 04:44 (UTC)

Kingsoft already provided global CDN for their official source, and I'm going to stick to this as it's actually much faster for Chinese users as well.

I actually can't tell what the state of their 64-bit support is. I downloaded their 64 bit binary and tried to run it as in the readme, and it complained of not finding, which exists on my system under /usr/lib/.

andykluger commented on 2014-06-17 21:42 (UTC)

This seems to be hard-coded for 32-bit, though 64-bit is available.

dujiulun2006 commented on 2014-04-09 07:10 (UTC)

The Arch "Right Way" would be to strip the shipped version and build them by ourselves. But I give a thumb up for using them since compiling from AUR is painful.

felixonmars commented on 2014-04-05 06:27 (UTC)

FYI that I just removed {lib32-,}libjpeg6 from dependencies, since kingsoft has shipped it already.

flexiondotorg commented on 2014-04-04 12:20 (UTC)

Hi Felix, I've been following your license thread on the mailing list. I'm interested in seeing this package gain popularity, it really addresses a need for me. To that end, I've done some tweaking on the PKGBUILD to clean up the `depends` a little, I've not addressed everything yet but the `namcap` report is looking better. You can find my changes in the following Gist -

felixonmars commented on 2014-03-31 07:25 (UTC)

:) I'm also trying to figure out the exact dependencies needed.

brittyazel commented on 2014-03-31 06:12 (UTC)

I see you switched us to downloading the .tar.xz file, rather than the .deb file. Nicely done. It seems to have significantly cleaned up the PKGBUILD and install as well.

brittyazel commented on 2014-03-28 17:06 (UTC)

Try downloading it again. It looks like you only downloaded ~70% of the package before the makepkg kicked in to build it. Which would explain the errors.

brittyazel commented on 2014-03-20 04:11 (UTC)

I updated this package with the new .deb link and sha1 code from here: I do not have the time to be a permanent maintainer so I am abandoning the package until someone steps up. I hope this gets us going with alpha4 though.

brittyazel commented on 2014-03-20 02:33 (UTC)

Unfortunately it looks as if this package is no longer maintained. We would need a new maintainer to take over to continue using this package. Also, I noticed that there was a tar.gz file listed on the kingsoft office website, why are we extracting from the .deb?

Because of the long time of compression and their size, I add wpsoffice-common to deal with the depends of wps-office. I know namcap will gives many warnning about that.

theOptimizedCode commented on 2013-06-24 10:57 (UTC)

@JoveYu That worked! However, that shouldn't have happened in the first place!

hagabaka commented on 2013-06-24 10:13 (UTC)

Actually since wpsoffice-common only contains the license, it should have arch=('any'), and wpsoffice should have ('i686' 'x86_64').

Thanks for this package. It renders Office documents much better than LibreOffice. I have a .ppt file which has a tiff logo. The logo does not appear. Is this a kingsoft issue or could it be that a lib32-libtiff dependency is missing? There is no error message when I run wpp from the command line though.

To tell yaourt (or some other tool?) to use other place as a temporary directory, set $TMP, e.g. TMP=/var/tmp yaourt -S kingsoft-office BTW, if you find your running building will soon run out of space in /tmp, you can loose the limit by remounting: mount -o remount,size=8G /tmp

I'm trying to install (apart that it take a lot of time to download and sometime the dowload stops at all), but during the attempting to build up, the system complains that there is not enough more space in the device (I have plenty of it, over 10 Gb, in my root), and the building stops; any idea on how solve the problem? Thanks in advance.

xgdgsc commented on 2013-04-18 02:37 (UTC)

AUR is mostly intended for individual users. The compression time is unbearable. Rarely do we transfer packages to others. You can compress yourself if you want.

lilydjwg commented on 2013-04-18 02:11 (UTC)

@JoveYu: What if I package it and transfer it to others via Internet or intranet? Yes, it takes a significant time to compress. But it takes much more for others to download. That's the issue I'm addressing.

schivmeister commented on 2013-04-17 23:58 (UTC)

Why does this mess with PKGEXT? What possible benefit is there by creating an uncompressed tar package that's inflated in size (compression only needs a little extra time)? Also, it needs many other programs post-install. Excellent software, though. Looks like it can eat all the other free office suites for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I've particularly always been annoyed by Java :) 为什么你干扰PKGEXT的?

commented on 2013-01-31 14:57 (UTC)

@ JoveYu: Yeah, you are right, after checking the extracted stuff of the .tar.xz package I found the same thing--it is not as complete and therefore should not be implemented as an appropriate source to build from. The PKGBUILD and install process for wps-office needs only copying the files to their corresponding places, and the .deb package just fits this purpose well. Thanks for the clarification.

JoveYu commented on 2013-01-31 10:40 (UTC)

.tar.xz file don't provide enough file for a package ,like icons , .desktop file , mine ... if you use .tar.xz file to build this package, you still need to extract these files from deb package wps-office need not you to use MAKE ,so deb package make it much easier to makepkg

Auguste commented on 2013-01-31 08:25 (UTC)

sorry, that's a typo. what upstream provides is a .tar.xz file.

Auguste commented on 2013-01-31 08:25 (UTC)

why not use the .tar.gz package provided by upstream directly? we can put the source in noextract array and extract the content only once.

bsidb commented on 2012-12-12 01:14 (UTC)

xzy3186 commented on 2012-09-30 12:23 (UTC)

You need to add libpng12 (AUR) as dependencies.

JoveYu commented on 2012-09-29 10:17 (UTC)

不提供软件包的地址,软件还不够稳定,有需要的去 求个包 和PKGBUILD放一起打包就可以了 有什么问题可以提出来
