Ok, i was using the battery-applet instead of the icon from xfce4-power-manager, i'm an id..t!

xfce4-battery-plugin 1.0.1... so it is really strange problem, because i tried cbatticon from aur, and it has the right icon.
But i want to use my xfce-battery-plugin. Weird to hear your plugin is called xfce4-power-manager... i have not an applet with that name!

The issue is not with the Greybird theme, but it is either due to the icon theme or the battery applet. I think it is the battery applet, since when I change my icon theme (such as Elementary Xfce Dark), it correctly changes the battery icon.
Right-click on your battery icon and go to About. What does it say? It should say "xfce4-power-manager". If not, then it appears that you are using a different power/battery applet.

Sometimes you must logout and login again, or reload the Xfce panel for the new icons to be used. Can you link to a screenshot of which battery icon is being used?
As for the .gtkrc-2.0, that problem is common, since some users do have customizations in their home directory. If you look at all of the comments, you will see that someone else had the same issue, until they removed the file from their home folder.
