Instructions for downgrade to version 4.11.0-2:
wget https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/snapshot/aur-7dab7610295524dfeab52dce4683a99af5024803.tar.gz
unp aur-7dab76102955.tar.gz
mv aur-7dab76102955 xfce4-mixer-4.11.0-2
cd xfce4-mixer-4.11.0-2
makepkg
sudo pacman -U xfce4-mixer-4.11.0-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
as root edit /etc/pacman.conf and add "xfce4-mixer" to IgnorePkg, to avoid update.

alsa-utils are already installed.

My question is how to exactly downgrade. What's the relevant command to download the old pkg, pls?
yokirinjin commented on 2024-03-27 03:03 (UTC)
You can downgrade to the previous version by checking out that commit. The previous version was patched by some changes from another distro for reasons unknown to me. I never used it. Perhaps, the original maintainer can comment on that.
This is the latest vanilla version from the xfce4 repo. Removing alsa-utils broke this application on my system, so I added it as dependency (it could be a nested dependency that it requires but I need more time to pinpoint it). See if that works for y'all now.

Where can I find the previous version's AUR package? I understand that an older commit has to be used to git clone the old version. I would like to downgrade this package.

same thing for me. 4.18.1-1 doesn't work. I even don't get any error messages

4.18.1-1 also doesn't work for me.
The icon in the tray has changed to the default volume icon of xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin.
When I hover over the tray icon, It says "no valid device or element".
From the menu, when I choose "open mixer" I get the error msg "Gstreamer cannot find sound devices. Maybe necessary packages are not installed. It might also be a problem with user rights" (translated from the German error msg, so the original error msg is probably slightly different).
Everything worked well until I updated the package today. All necessary GStreamer packages are unchanged and installed.
