Yeah, that was it exactly. Looking at that commit, looks like such a simple fix for so many critical bugs. Kinda funny.

Indeed, I think this particular commit to SPL really closed a lot of nasty bugs... https://github.com/zfsonlinux/spl/commit/a3c1eb77721a0d511b4fe7111bb2314686570c4b If I remember correctly, you were also facing CPU soft lockups in the kernel, with the txg_sync thread getting stuck. I'm glad to say that, like you, I haven't noticed a single one after that commit.

A while ago I had a recurring problem, which I posted about in this comment box, where I got kernel panics on 3.16 and 3.17. This is now fixed with the latest package and using kernel 3.18.x. Running it rock solid for 2 months now or so. Just wanted to report this.

@demizer, done: https://github.com/demizer/archzfs/issues/31 :) It's good to know that it isn't supposed to work. As I've written in the bug report, the root on zfs wiki page mentions it as a valid kernel parameter. @Ibex, thanks. That kernel option is much more comfortable than forcefully importing it in the minimalistic busybox. Have you tried writing a /etc/hostid file as per https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Installing_Arch_Linux_on_ZFS#After_the_first_boot ? Does it have its own complications? I'll try that next before I permanently add the force option to my boot parameters.

@Perseids: I had some issues with the hostid in the past as well, and I eventually decided to always do a force import on boot. Might help you (for now) as well. My grub linux line: linux /vmlinuz-linux zfs=zroot rw zfs_force=1

@Perseids Sorry to hear about your issue. Archzfs does not currently support setting a custom hostid. I will look into this issue further. If you don't mind, could you create a ticket here: https://github.com/demizer/archzfs/issues

Hi, I just restarted my system after the 3.18.4-1 kernel update and got an import error on my (zfs) root partition, because the hostid did not match the previous one. On the previous kernel I could set it via the spl.spl_hostid kernel parameter, but apparently this no longer works. Maybe something's broken in the mkinitcpio zfs module?
