when running this on the latest build, I get a bunch of

Compiling gets an error: icon-library/data/meson.build:85:0: ERROR: gnome.compile_resources takes exactly 2 arguments, but got 3.

This does not require cmake to build. Meson projects look for cmake if there's a missing dependency, that's probably why you saw it.

appstream-glib should be added to checkdepends() for the validate-appdata test.
