The build fails (see comment below) because the build system has been changed to meson. The make dependencies have changed and are listed here: https://github.com/irssi/irssi/blob/master/INSTALL

The build now fails with this error:

/home/freefull/AUR/irssi-git/PKGBUILD: line 34: ./autogen.sh: No such file or directory

I adopted the package and changed pkgver() to better follow the VCS package guidelines specified in the wiki.

Seems it's related to various $PERL* variables set in my environment

I get this when I try to install the package after building it: error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files) irssi-git: /home/freefull/perl5/lib/perl5/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/Irssi.pm exists in filesystem irssi-git: /home/freefull/perl5/lib/perl5/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/Irssi/Irc.pm exists in filesystem irssi-git: /home/freefull/perl5/lib/perl5/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/Irssi/TextUI.pm exists in filesystem irssi-git: /home/freefull/perl5/lib/perl5/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/Irssi/UI.pm exists in filesystem irssi-git: /home/freefull/perl5/lib/perl5/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/auto/Irssi/Irc/Irc.so exists in filesystem irssi-git: /home/freefull/perl5/lib/perl5/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/auto/Irssi/Irssi.so exists in filesystem irssi-git: /home/freefull/perl5/lib/perl5/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/auto/Irssi/TextUI/TextUI.so exists in filesystem irssi-git: /home/freefull/perl5/lib/perl5/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/auto/Irssi/UI/UI.so exists in filesystem Why is it trying to install files into my home directory?

Ha! Sorry, you don't need "| sed 's/^v//" I copy pasted from one of my packages and forgot to delete that part.
