That's not the nvidia module, DKMS "broke" for reasons. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=2053486#p2053486

This is a Dell Latitude E6510 by the way, in case that is relevant in any way. [There was a sentence about not being able to suspend/hibernate with nouveau here earlier, but I solved that by adding the kernel parameter init_on_alloc=0 to grub and it was off-topic anyway.)

After the latest full update, which includes the 5.19.3 kernel, the nvidia-340xx-dkms won’t work anymore on my system. journalctl contains the following lines:

Aug 24 02:36:07 Io kernel: BPF: [112185] Invalid kind:19

Aug 24 02:36:07 Io kernel: failed to validate module [nvidia] BTF: -22

and no nvidia module is shown via lsmod.

I removed the nvidia driver completely and am using nouveau for the time being, but previously I have had issues with it and would like to return to nvidia-340xx-dkms driver if possible.

Runs fine on kernel 5.15.62-1-lts after dkms remove and dkms install

@Musikolo, Thanks, I didn't know if I should update

Musikolo commented on 2022-08-17 13:52 (UTC)

@infarni, I built it and use it yesterday on an old computer I have. It worked perfectly for me with kernel 5.19.

I hope it helps.

Does this package work fine on kernel version 5.19?

Cannot install nvidia-340xx-dkms : First need to run it as " IGNORE_CC_MISMATCH=1 dkms install --no-depmod nvidia/340.108 -k 5.18.13-arch1-1 " Because of comparison btw GCC and CC (same versions) Next, into /var/lib/dkms/nvidia/340.108/source/ need to patch os-interface.h and nv.h to modify include of stdarg.h to linux/stdarg.h Then I figure out that patches are not applied into this directory (or I do not understand why they are here ^^) so I had a lot of errors. I stopped here, build nvidia-340xx, call manually dkms install to ignore CC mismatch, and it's installed properly. Now I have to reboot... Hope it works ! EDIT : finally forcing re-install of nvidia-340xx (it said installed but keep -dkms in place, maybe a mistake of I), works fine :)

Hi,

Doesn't work on my PC using mobo Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H (IGPU 9400), when I start gdm it generates watchdog soft lockup cpu stuck

@JerryXiao well, kernel says "PCI: Using host bridge windows from ACPI; if necessary, use "pci=nocrs" and report a bug" on boot, yes. It is laptop, so no cables - direct connection, triple checked, cleansed by alcohol etc. On heavy drive access like "pacman -Qs nvidia" it starts to print "broken inode" if nvidia driver installed.
