Good idea, karabaja. Done but didn't bump the pkgver.

graysky, could you temporarily replace: ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v3.0/ with http://kernelorg.mirrors.tds.net/pub/linux/kernel/v3.0/ and http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/ck/patches/ with http://kernelorg.mirrors.tds.net/pub/linux/kernel/people/ck/patches/ because kernel.org has been down for quite a while now... :/

Actually, I'm going to apologise for my last comment. This doesn't have to drop down to flinging insults. Let's just try to keep discussion relevant to this package though.

@Zom, yeah, because I was like going to discuss the weather next. Good thing you got here first.

Zom commented on 2011-09-14 14:17 (UTC)

You guys could just take it over email or, you know, the comments section of that package instead.

Det commented on 2011-09-14 11:16 (UTC)

The last sentence would've been enough.

Det--I build my package primarily because I have a need for it. If others benefit from it, that's fine by me, but unless another user of the package wants the update right this moment, I'll wait until the official repos are back up. Anyone who synced with kernel.org's main tree between the time the servers were attacked and when they noticed it had been compromised (a two week period IIRC) could potentially have a compromised kernel tree. Now, I know the general consensus is that the kernel wasn't compromised because the 'hackers' had no clue what they had (and it shouldve been detected if they HAD messed with the source), but I'd rather not take the chance until the main repo is restored. Until then, if you use my package, you can probably figure out the tweaks I make to it and build the newer kernel with the config from 3.0.3. And if you don't, none of this should matter since graysky's PKGBUILD points at the newest branch. Also, I have a few tweaks I'm planning on building into the kernel specifically for the Ideapads (concerning power management), which are NOT ready yet. Therefore, 3.0.3 IS the newest release of the linux-ideapad package.

Det commented on 2011-09-12 11:08 (UTC)

What does it matter the main mirror isn't working? You can just use a different one. Your package uses 3.0.3. The latest is 3.0.4. This means it's out-of-date, whether you insist on using www.kernel.org or not.

admiralspark commented on 2011-09-12 06:21 (UTC)

I know it's true. So why would you mark my package as out-of-date? graysky can't update his either.
