@micsnare
Well, rhermes says they'll get to updating it sometime this weekend, but in the meantime you can just do this. That did the trick for me.

@cdbfoster

how did you get displaylink 5.1.26-1 installed? I'm still running 4.4.24-1 and I'm also running the linux LTS version. I have the same evdi version though.

I'd appreciate any tips on how to upgrade displaylink manually.

thanks.

@jnvandermeer
There is now an evdi 1.6. Maybe that will work for you. This is currently working for me:

  • evdi 1.6.0-1
  • displaylink 5.1.26-1
  • linux 4.20.13.arch1-1

I get "Installing DLM systemd service Extracting DisplayLink Driver Package

Failed to parse arguments: Unknown option -title".

Any idea on what to do?

Does DisplayLink work with Wayland or at least XWayland?

Also, any plans to upgrade it to 5.1+ version?

I'll look at this as soon as I can, most likely next weekend!

After trying an update, I reverted back to using the old setup:

xf86-video-intel-1_2.99.917+823+gd9bf46e4-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz xf86-video-vesa-2.4.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz xorg-server-1.19.6+13+gd0d1a694f-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz xorg-server-common-1.19.6+13+gd0d1a694f-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz xorg-server-xwayland-1.19.6+13+gd0d1a694f-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz (with evdi-git)

When I tried the latest updates yesterday ( evdi 1.5.1-2 displaylink 4.4.24-1 linux 4.20.arch1-1 )

The screen worked -- kind of. The mouse had a weird ghosting artifact that was too distracting. I run a Cinnamon Desktop, so perhaps it could also be an interaction with that.

Do things work for anyone without any trouble (and with which desktop)? I could still be doing something wrong.

Looks like the latest package release from DisplayLink is v5.1 on 2019-02-19.

hi all,

why is this package suddenly flagged as "out of date" ? is there a newer alternative?
