It seems to be random. Sometimes the mail icon shows on Evolution startup, sometimes it doesn't. I found what happened now is when booting with the latest LTS kernel, the icon shows, while when booting with the latest kernel (non-LTS), the icon does not show.

But my pkgconf's version is 1.5.1-1.

If you are using gnome,you need to install topicons plus (gnome shell extension) to get icon to show up. This plugin makes my evolution perfect.I have find this plugin for a lot of time.I want to give guys a lot of stars if i can.

Updated to latest versions and now it crashes after opening. Needed to remove this to get it working

I am having the same problem. Did you find a solution yet? For some Reason I cannot get an icon to show up.

I have built and installed this package successfully. When putting a tick Hide on minimizing or Hide on exit options in Edit >> Plugins. Just hired process and didn't put Evolution in the system tray. When I want to click evolution icon for opening there is not any response due to backgrounded already running evolution process. I had to end all evolution process to get my evolution back. My DE Preferences: Gnome 3.24.2 Wayland

I took ownership of the package, it works with evolution 3.24 now.
