I tried to update my chrome today and it was out of date. What happened? All the Google Chrome versions are marked as out of date.
Det commented on 2012-07-22 11:47 (UTC)
And so you figure 10 bytes is the way to go then?
If Chrome uses too much space, you can clear your cache more often. If you actually want to limit its usage you can do that as well, but I wouldn't appreciate having that shoved into the package by default.
E: Well, actually I don't even use the .desktop so as long as these things stay away from the launcher/symlink in /usr/bin, I don't really care.
gratuxri commented on 2012-07-21 16:50 (UTC)
Because of Disk Quota, sometimes need chrome over 500 Mb
aliasbody commented on 2012-07-14 22:35 (UTC)
Just a silly question... Why isn't this package on the [extra]'s repositorie ?
t3ddy commented on 2012-07-10 14:36 (UTC)
Ok, I've read the meaning of that flag, but I don't understand why someone should set it in that way.
Det commented on 2012-07-10 14:08 (UTC)
He wants a disk cache of 10 bytes.
t3ddy commented on 2012-07-10 13:41 (UTC)
May I ask you why?
gratuxri commented on 2012-07-10 12:05 (UTC)
I think, that it was be usefull if package-maintainer would change the .desktop file, so that chrome starts with --disk-cache-size=10 option or similar.
sjakub commented on 2012-07-04 15:47 (UTC)
Could it link to /usr/lib/libudev.so.1 instead?
1.0.1 is installed by systemd-tools in [core], but the version in testing installs 1.0.2 instead.
libudev.so.1 (or even libudev.so) would work on both.
ataraxia commented on 2012-06-28 22:52 (UTC)
This doesn't need to depend on libpng12 any longer, it's been updated to use the current libpng (1.5).
<deleted-account> commented on 2012-06-28 18:58 (UTC)
True that! Disabling pepperflash did the trick (fyi to disable it go to: chrome://plugins/ click details on the top right and disable pepperflash from there). Wouldn't it be useful having it working though?
konart commented on 2012-06-28 17:28 (UTC)
Okay, the problem was in
Shockwave Flash 11.3 r31
11.3.31.109
/opt/google/chrome/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so
after turning pepper flash off - everything back to normal
konart commented on 2012-06-28 17:17 (UTC)
Also chrome spams with those messages:
ALSA lib pcm_direct.c:980:(snd1_pcm_direct_initialize_slave) unable to install hw params
ALSA lib pcm_dsnoop.c:623:(snd_pcm_dsnoop_open) unable to initialize slave
konart commented on 2012-06-28 17:13 (UTC)
Don't know about youtube, however in my case the browsing itself is almost impossible. Chrome lags like hell - scrolling, input, everything. It's like a slideshow
<deleted-account> commented on 2012-06-28 13:05 (UTC)
Also having issues with fullscreen mode in youtube. When clicking the fullscreen button the image only flickers a short time and the video stays the same size. The new version of chromium works flawlessly.
<deleted-account> commented on 2012-06-28 12:48 (UTC)
Anyone else having issues playing fullscreen youtube videos after the last update?
Fumon commented on 2012-06-02 23:25 (UTC)
On a new install done the day of this post, xfce
google-chrome would report "Aborted"
Installed chromium which only pulled "ttf-dejavu"
google-chrome would then work.
I'm assuming the dependencies need to be updated with a font.
martadinata666 commented on 2012-06-02 18:25 (UTC)
thanks @eric chrome work flawlessly again
t3ddy commented on 2012-06-02 14:07 (UTC)
I've added the workaround to the pkgbuild. You can remove the simlink to keep the system cleaner.

Temporary workaround for jstoik1 and vanni971's problem (as well as others I'm sure)
$ sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libudev.so.1.0.1 /usr/lib/libudev.so.0
<deleted-account> commented on 2012-06-01 21:54 (UTC)
Same problem of jstoik1
jstoik1 commented on 2012-06-01 18:36 (UTC)
Following the switch from udev to systemd-tools, google-chrome fails to run: error while loading shared libraries: libudev.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Is flashplayer included in this build of chrome or inbuilt flash is only included with dev channel?
nDray commented on 2012-05-16 12:47 (UTC)
More precisely 19.0.1084.46
<deleted-account> commented on 2012-05-16 12:21 (UTC)
Chrome 19 is out!
<deleted-account> commented on 2012-05-05 19:21 (UTC)
Well I am not 64 bit :)

*Scratch that, Skype's there (and so were my jre and jdk packages)*
I dunno. I suppose, if re-packaging Skype is okay, then there should be no issues in doing so with Google Chrome or even Google Earth: https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/community.git/tree/trunk/PERMISSION?h=packages/skype
But even if they did move this some day, I'm not sure they'd keep both.
<deleted-account> commented on 2012-05-01 06:40 (UTC)
I think google chrome should be in the extra repository. I don't like Chromium.
Det commented on 2012-04-29 11:19 (UTC)
Because you are so 64-bit.
<deleted-account> commented on 2012-04-29 08:50 (UTC)
Why I don't have flash inbuilt for google chrome ?
alexcortes commented on 2012-04-13 16:31 (UTC)
Not working here without libpng12.
<deleted-account> commented on 2012-04-07 08:46 (UTC)

t3ddy commented on 2012-04-07 08:33 (UTC)

I'm getting a 404 error.
mike.cloaked commented on 2012-04-06 16:19 (UTC)
Any chance this can be updated to version 18.0.1025.151? Thanks
nDray commented on 2012-03-29 12:58 (UTC)
It's a flash problem. See this, for example: http://r3dux.org/2011/12/how-to-partially-workaround-adobe-flash-plugin-issues-on-linux/
cowai commented on 2012-03-29 12:55 (UTC)
Anybody experiencing blueish overlay on flash videos with the latest chrome? All youtube looks like Avatar now :P
Det commented on 2012-03-28 18:14 (UTC)
Yeah. That usually happens when they update their software and remove the old one.
Svenw commented on 2012-03-28 17:53 (UTC)
Looks like google has changed their download path as I get a 404 error on the AUR install, directly using the link above, or browsing the google site.
t3ddy commented on 2012-03-22 16:28 (UTC)
my mistake, again :)
wellington commented on 2012-03-22 14:58 (UTC)

When reporting this package as outdated make sure there is indeed a new version for Linux Desktop. You can have a look at the "Stable updates" tag in Release blog for this.
You can also run this command to obtain the version string for the latest chrome version:
Do not report updates for ChromeOS, Android or other platforms stable versions as updates here.
