Probably due to the now bundled 'eula_text.html'.
Very confusing message.

@frimen: thank you! Same issue / solution! :-)
BurhanDanger commented on 2017-09-23 10:38 (UTC)
If you're facing problem like "frimen" noted , do a clean build with makepkg, you'll be fine.
That was probably a pacaur issue.

:: google-chrome package(s) failed to install.
:: ensure package version does not mismatch between .SRCINFO and PKGBUILD
:: ensure package name has a VCS suffix if this is a devel package
UPD: doing this 'rm -rf ~/.cache/pacaur/google-chrome' fix it. Thanks.

Heh. Here's a poll: http://www.strawpoll.me/13987145 (closes at 2017-09-29 21:03)
1) "The popular and trusted web browser by Google (Stable Channel)"
2) "One fast, simple, and secure browser for all your devices (Stable Channel)"
Det commented on 2017-09-22 17:49 (UTC)
I think I might be willing to go something like "The popular and trusted web browser by Google".

An attempt at minimal design with sophisticated technology.
lol
technic93 commented on 2017-09-22 15:42 (UTC)
Well, in deb they have
Description: The web browser from Google
Google Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier.
Det commented on 2017-09-22 15:29 (UTC)
Maybe. But. If using my own words and not even their official phrasing, it would sound more like it's tantamount to just an opinion.
I've always liked how the thing stands on its own merit.

Perhaps it is time to change the summary? I don't believe "attempt" is valid any longer. Without getting creative it could be shortened to:
A safe, fast, and stable browser developed by Google (Stable Channel)

When reporting this package as outdated make sure there is indeed a new version for Linux Desktop. You can have a look at the "Stable updates" tag in Release blog for this.
You can also run this command to obtain the version string for the latest chrome version:
Do not report updates for ChromeOS, Android or other platforms stable versions as updates here.
