When reporting this package as outdated make sure there is indeed a new version for Linux Desktop. You can have a look at the "Stable updates" tag in Release blog for this.

You can also run this command to obtain the version string for the latest chrome version:

$ curl -sSf https://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/dists/stable/main/binary-amd64/Packages | \
     grep -A1 "Package: google-chrome-stable" | \
     awk '/Version/{print $2}' | \
     cut -d '-' -f1

Do not report updates for ChromeOS, Android or other platforms stable versions as updates here.

I also get a segfault when saving files, but if I just reopen Chrome and my old tabs (Ctrl+Shift+T) trying to save a second time works.

If you guys get that with a clean profile for both the Beta and Dev Channel as well, then you should report a bug.

Hi Catalin, That said I really dont know if this is an chrome issue or libgtk? Ive tried to googlefu the issue but failed. My collegue has the same problem, both of us are using arch and awesome as windowmanager. Dont know any other way to reproduce than using "Save page as". Every time I try I see the save window starts drawing and then *poff* chrome dies and this error message in dmesg comes up.

@radikal: Tried "Save page as" and it worked fine. Anything special I need to do to reproduce this?

Am I the only one seeing crashes when using "Save page as" [ 5924.345719] chrome[625]: segfault at 30 ip 00007f8fd91a3956 sp 00007fff586e2a00 error 4 in libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.2400.25[7f8fd8ee5000+435000] [172071.870967] chrome[3162]: segfault at 30 ip 00007f077a445956 sp 00007fff00e16fe0 error 4 in libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.2400.25[7f077a187000+435000] [243127.630583] chrome[28297]: segfault at 30 ip 00007f088b43f956 sp 00007fff59e99f90 error 4 in libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.2400.25[7f088b181000+435000] [607124.690762] chrome[24993]: segfault at 30 ip 00007f6ce0706956 sp 00007fffd6963c30 error 4 in libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.2400.25[7f6ce0448000+435000]

@bmbaker, @catalin.hritcu, @LarcBP, yes guys, when a new version's up, the md5sums won't match anymore. We actually don't need any more people confirming this problem each time a new version's up. You can consider it confirmed. Also, I know you're eager and everything, but please, just let me update it and...it doesn't have to be removed...: https://lists.archlinux.org/pipermail/aur-requests/2015-January/004440.html

LarcBP commented on 2015-01-27 12:06 (UTC)

to solve this last problem, change the line on PKGBUILD: md5sums_x86_64=('0bd66eeac16d62778ad7cb33d608eb68') to md5sums_x86_64=('ac0e961f5001a38c087942570ac65178')

I can confirm bmbaker's problem. I get a similar problem with aura: ==> Validating source files with md5sums... google-chrome-stable_40.0.2214.91_amd64.deb ... FAILED

bmbaker commented on 2015-01-27 08:44 (UTC)

there seems to be a problem with PKBUILD Validating source files with md5sums... google-chrome-stable_40.0.2214.91_amd64.deb ... FAILED ==> ERROR: One or more files did not pass the validity check! ==> ERROR: Makepkg was unable to build google-chrome.

Pacman 4.2.0 is apparently in [testing] for Manjaro: http://mirror.premi.st/manjaro/testing/core/x86_64/ You can get the previous (4.1.x compatible) PKGBUILD in: http://pkgbuild.com/git/aur-mirror.git/tree/google-chrome/PKGBUILD?id=670b3f5f6cc45f9a28652316ba17d02b60023cf3
