I will not update (for now) to the latest version 7.3.6.9326 because it crashes continuously for me.

Thanks, unfortunate timing then.

For reference, with Gnome shell / wayland I need to

unset QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME
unset QT_QPA_PLATFORM

to avoid

Google Earth has caught signal 6.

I have some versions working on my nVidia box, and some versions working on my Intel box. If I can reconcile the two and get something that works on both I'll update the PKGBUILD.

Interesting googleearth works with Berseker's PKGBUILD and the libGL.so.1 mentioned below. It didn't work with the PKGBUILD from above.

can you please update your PKGBUILD with some of the tricks used by srabd in his bin32-google-earth PKGBUILD? http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=12890 it contains fixes for some annoying bugs, plus the _use_arch_libs setting. I think it would be a great add to this PKGBUILD thanks

for intel users with the famous bug at start cd /opt/google-earth wget http://librarian.launchpad.net/7037027/libGL.so.1 -O libGL.so.1 solved the problem for me

OttoA commented on 2010-07-22 22:10 (UTC)

crashed for me on startup (crashlog: http://fpaste.org/ReGA/) commented out rm -f lib{crypto.so.*,Qt*,GLU.so.*,curl.so.*,gcc_s.so.*,stdc++.so.*,z.so.*} && and got it working - there probably are version mismatches

Perhaps we should consider adding the bugfix (export LC_NUMERIC=C) for the numeric format to the 'googleearth' script. Or at least add a note to googleearth.install that this bug exists and how to fix it if necessary. And BTW: 5.2 doesn't work for me (ATI HD 3450) either, same error as zyghom and epsilom. i downgraded to 5.1
