I will not update (for now) to the latest version 7.3.6.9326 because it crashes continuously for me.

Thanks, unfortunate timing then.

For reference, with Gnome shell / wayland I need to

unset QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME
unset QT_QPA_PLATFORM

to avoid

Google Earth has caught signal 6.

Changing to PKGEXT=".pkg.tar.lzo". I'll be adding the 'pacman>=4.1' dependency, if there's too many complaints. E: Here's some statistics: .tar: 117M/0.14s .tar.lrzip: 28M/0.15s .tar.lzop: 59M/0.54s .tar.gz: 42M/6.0s .tar.xz 28M/51.1s E2: Oh, well, no, I can't do that, if lzop's provided by [extra] and not even required by pacman (and if I made it a makedep I might as well use lrzip).

No, because that would mean you're downloading both. The AUR Sources parser doesn't understand "$CARCH" statements or alternative links. Makepkg does. That's why the right one will be downloaded anyway (from the PKGBUILD): _arch=i386 # Workaround for the AUR Web interface Source parser [ "$CARCH" = 'x86_64' ] && _arch=amd64 source=("$pkgname-stable_$pkgver_$_arch.deb"::"http://dl.google.com/earth/client/current/$pkgname-stable_current_$_arch.deb"

Strike that, it just needs to be listed in the sources.

Shouldn't the 64 bit version be an option? http://dl.google.com/earth/client/current/google-earth-stable_current_AMD64.deb

Recent updates to various lib32 files prompted me to try google-earth 7 to see if it worked. The program launched but I only got the yellow lines again. Just wanted to test it. GE6 works fine.

@eworm, no, my dear, I've responded _overall_ three times. It's just that apparently if I don't include that "@eworm" in the beginning or some other incredibly visible way try to get your attention you miss it altogether. So here goes one more time: "The problem is that it's a _Git_ version. If this was just a bad commit it'd be stupid to actually do something about it. I like it the way it is and unless you can _prove_ through an actual released version that I need to have 'em: I won't." And just so you notice once again that this a post and this post is directed at you: ################### @EWORM, THIS MESSAGE IS DIRECTED AT YOU! ####################

I try to report problems (and even give a solution) and hope to get them changed by the maintainer. I do not like to be ignored. And I feel ignored in three ways: * You do not include a change for a real problem. * You do not give a good reason why the change is not done. * You do not respond at all! (Well, you did after I posted this the third time... But all you said is "No." with a lot of unfriendly stuff around.) I will shut up now and you should rethink the situation.
