Hi @Xavier. Thanks, I tried updating it to latest version but I saw that changes need to be made in the configure file regarding zlib location or similar. It's a bit above my level TBH. I'm only really looking into getting the h4h5tools working, if you have any alternatives for this.

Hi @skualos thanks for report me that error, to be honest, I haven't used this package for a long time, I just disowned it if you want to adopt it and update it

I'm getting the following build error:

configure: error: HDF4 was linked without SZIP, but --with-szlib was given

Source URL needs to be changed to https://observer.gsfc.nasa.gov/ftp/edhs/hdfeos/latest_release/HDF-EOS${pkgver}v1.00.tar.Z.

You are right @fhs, I will take the first option, in the next days I will fix that. thanks!

Hi @epsilom, I see few options: 1. Create a separate hdf-eos-common package for those files, and make this package depend on it. 2. Add hdf-eos5 as a dependency for this package, but this means user has to install gdal and hdf5. 3. Add hdf-eos5 as an optional dependency, so the user at least knows where to find the files. 4. Add a comment in PKGBUILD explaining why the files are being removed. I would at least do (3) and (4). Option (1) might be a bit overkill, but it's the more "correct" solution.

Hi @fhs yes I know, but these 4 files that I removed in PKGBUILD is because the package hdf-eos5 provide these files (are identical files) and, of course, I had to delete that files else you can't install both packages (hdf-eos2 and hdf-eos5). If you need this header file, install hdf-eos5. do you think if there are other better way for resolve this conflict files?

Why is ease.h removed from this package? HdfEosDef.h is clearly including ease.h
