Works out of the box. Reliable and easy, thank you!

@ron2138 this is the exact reason for the iscan removal from the repositories, it's buggy and some scanner models require a specific version to work. I've your exact scanner model and I tried anything in my possibilities to make it to work with other models but it always crashed with different scanner models and newer gcc versions

I'm trying to understand why the removal of "iscan" and "iscan-data" upon update with "yay" is recommending this package to me. I do own an L355 all-in-one printer and a V330 Photo scanner but I'm not understanding If I will have problems if I do remove those two packages. Could someone elucidate and pin it? Thanks.
Edit: I should mention those packages are not available in AUR anymore.

@ron2138 I have an Epson V10 and it does not work with this package or the archived from community... I tried to enable epkowa in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf and add "usb 0x04b8 0x012d" to /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf. Still, no success. Scanner seems to be detected (scanimage -L reports "device `epkowa:usb:003:015' is a Epson (unknown model) flatbed scanner") but it doesn't want to scan :(
NVM: finally I've forked this package and used the full bundle to create a new package that includes iscan, iscan-data and the plugin. If anybody is interested, this is the result (sorry for the spam)

Referring to the part of the description that states
For what it worth, this package, iscan-for-epson-v500-photo, doesn't work for me. With it,
scanimage -L
, from the sane package, doesn't recognize any scanner. In contrast, last version of iscan[community] from the archive mostly works. In particular, it does scan.lsusb
identifies the scanner as. I have the AUR iscan-plugin-gt-f720 installed too.

Thoughts about the makedepends for the package.
A patch for the suggested PKGBUILD. And a complete suggested PKGBUILD.
In my opinion, deb2targz is not required. ar, from binutils, can do it. I wrote a comment about that a short while ago, at the deb2targz page.
I also suggest to remove binutils from makedepends. The reason is that binutils is in the base-devel group. arch wiki comment is,

Should the reference to iscan[community] removed from the description? At the time of this writing, I can not find an iscan package in community.
