Might need to put the "updates itself" message in bold. Looks like someone once again flagged this package as out of date.

Whoever marked this package as outdated probably does not know JDownloader. Jdownloader has always been in a constant state of upgrades since its main focus is internet storage sites and these keep changing all of the time. With that view in mind their developers released a version years ago and ever since they just use an internal online updater to bring any new install up-to-date. Also, just to be sure, I tested it and it works as expected.

Installed this yesterday, it works flawlessly. Once installed, jdwonloader2 update itself as on Windows with no clue or error message.

@Holodoc Don't you think that an update at this moment would be appropriate? I mean this package installs 4 year old software at first just to then update it to the recent version.

For those who failed to start the service like me at first attempt. I have to create jdownloader user and group or change user and group on jdownloader.service file.

I am getting an blank window when I start jdownloader2, the UI doesn't load. The right click menus seem to be working somehow. I am using bspwm and start jdownloader using rofi.

Edit:

So it was an issue with java apps where the app wouldn't render anything. It is a bug with dwm/bspwm and I fixed this by exporting a variable:

export _JAVA_AWT_WM_NONREPARENTING=1

as mentioned in this post:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1320859#p1321092
and this page in the wiki:

Does not work. After installation when trying to start the service, this package results in an error:

please consider using following in systemd service file: PIDFile=~/.jd/JDownloader.pid Restart=always

its annoying to login via ssh and restart jdownloader if updates occure or JDownloader crashes..
