as hurricane said

AMF is now packaged separately from the amdgpu-pro stack.

This currently packages 1.4.37 while 1.5.0 is available on github: https://github.com/GPUOpen-LibrariesAndSDKs/AMF/releases/tag/v1.5.0

I recommend remove amf-amdgpu-pro from this package and making it its own package now that the amdgpu-pro stack is no longer distributed.

the new AMD pro is very different the build structure and the refactor just dont make sense, and all the reasons for this package is the amdgpu-pro AMF and such, this package is now finally in end state, so i`ll stop to maintain it and ask for a removal of the package, if anyone want to maintain fell free to get, but i really dont see a reason without AMF there

i tried my best to keep it running for the last years even with the AMD just changing everything from time to time i hope that i helped anyone, good luck guys and see ya

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

updated to 6.4.4, from this version up it changed to 7.x the 7.x don't seem to have the proprietary driver in the jammy or noble(7.0.0 and 7.0.1), so it seems that the driver is already at mesa !!! it means that it will not receive any update on forward, i will wait just to make sure but it seems the 6.4.4 is the last pro driver :)

IF PROBLEM HAPPEN

this package is our try to put amdgpu in ARCH, but this could break or have problems as amd update and change their packages for ubuntu

if anything happens you can always download a older tag in https://github.com/Ashark/archlinux-amdgpu-pro/releases and get the PKGBUILD there, and use makepkg with that build while we update or try to fix :)

ALWAYS USE LINUX-FIRMWARE-GIT IF LATEST DRIVER FAIL BEFORE ISSUE SOME ERROR

I followed the instructions on the github repo from the pinned comment yesterday to get the new packages myself for my 9070XT and it worked fine on CachyOS with linux-firmware-git from AUR and mesa git which I built myself.

I know non gaming workloads are the intended use case for these drivers, but if you're looking for gaming performance it's currently pretty terrible at least with DXVK/VKD3D using these drivers... Was around 60% of RADV in my (limited) testing. =(

@mesmer The new linux-firmware and mesa-25.0 are in Core-Testing so they should be released soon.

However, I would caution anyone with a 9070/9070XT to install the following from AUR for best coverage:

linux-firmware-git mesa-git

before attempting to install 6.3.4 amdgpu-pro in any capacity until the fore-spoken packages are updated in the main tree.

mesmer commented on 2025-03-11 21:04 (UTC)

@reaperx7 the 6.3.4 seems to be doable to update, i`ll try to test and update that today

also we need to check if the linux-firmware works with the version, the amd releases some updates that the arch just dont have the correct firmware, it happens from time to time

New 6.3.4 drivers are out with support for 9070/9070XT.

@mesmer can we get the 6.3.2 release available please? Thank you.

reaperx7 commented on 2025-02-24 09:19 (UTC)

@Cristopher repo 6.3.3 seems to be only a meta package for xorg, wayland, and mesa based drivers. The real drivers are actually in the 6.3.2 directory. Usually, the repos are always a version behind as AMD does package their own xorg, wayland, and mesa stub kits for Ubuntu. Luckily, these are not needed.

@mesmer and repo 6.3.2 ... https://repo.radeon.com/amdgpu/6.3.2/

mesmer commented on 2025-02-23 15:39 (UTC)

@cristophero the 24.30 its not release like https://repo.radeon.com/amdgpu/6.3.3/ubuntu/dists/jammy/proprietary/binary-amd64/ the package is size 0, so we cannot use AMD do that from time to time, we ened to wait a version with proprietary with package not 0 size

Cristophero commented on 2025-02-23 15:17 (UTC)

Pls update 24.30!!

kode54 commented on 2025-01-19 06:38 (UTC)

Is it time for 24.30-2079599, with AMF version 1.4.36, in repo folder 6.3? (Not 6.3.1, that one is somehow missing most of the packages)
