To install this, remove original libpurple and any other package that depends from libpurple. Install libpurple-meanwhile and then reinstall those packages. To use sametime protocol in empathy, install telepathy-haze and telepathy-salut from official repositories.

updated! * Add meanwhile (from AUR), tcl and tk as dependencies. If you want to disable tcl, tk or both support, remove them from list of dependencies in PKGBUILD and add --disable-tcl and/or --disable-tk to ./configure in build()

You compile only libpurple with this PKGBUILD, not all pidgin stuff.

use the option -f frm pacman. I'll try to fix this issue later. Any suggestions?

Nice idea! Combined with yaourt I can automatically upgrade without the faff of manual compilation.
