Build fails: ==> Validating source files with md5sums... mathics-0.8.tar.gz ... Passed ==> Extracting sources... -> Extracting mathics-0.8.tar.gz with bsdtar ==> Starting build()... sed: can't read setup.py: No such file or directory If you add this line to the top of the build() and package() functions, the error is resolved: cd "$srcdir/mathics-${pkgver}"

It works fine for me. I fixed the source-url. The old url was broken and resulted into an 404.

I wonder if the dependence on django should be replaced by python2-django.

The package refuses to build; makepkg complains that the target "python2-mpmath" is not found.
