I will maintain this until it stops working, but this package should be considered "legacy" and the new Reference Manager (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/mendeley-reference-manager) preferred.

To avoid crashs when opening PDF's, and hangout on exit install mendeleydesktop-bundled which packages Qt provided by the upstream.

Try the pkg I provided, it should work better. You can solve the LD_LIBRARY_PATH the same way as before (look in up the comments).

Hi again, I had to reinstall manjaro xfce, now mendeley 18.2 works. However it gives LD_LIBRARY_PATH error yet. Should I just remove the line from "link-handler" file?

I really thank you for your interest in my problem.

PS. "open externally" works for docs files but not for pdfs. It is not problem for me.

Here is the debug launcher pastebin: https://pastebin.com/siFSEaGV

That pastebin is not working. I've just ran fresh XFCE in VirtualBox and everything worked fine. You probably have some settings miss-configured. --debug-laucher cannot work since I've removed mendeley's default launcher and replaces it with a small bash script that adds env variables and launches mendeley binary. You can get available options from the binary by adding --help

Maybe I couldn't do it correctly. What I did is: 1. I removed residual files that find command show me, and removed mendeleydesktop 2. I downloaded the pkgbuild code you linked and rename it as PKGBUILD only. 3. I moved into the folder (~/Downloads/file) in terminal and make makepgk here 4. I installed the package (mendeleydesktop-1.18-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz) by software installer. result is the same, shows all the files and "download" icon beside them, but clicking them gives "certificate" error. '--debug-launcher' tag won't work, --http tag result is here: https://pastebin.com/q8FKyys

Try cleaning up Mendeley in home directory, you can use find ~ -iname "*mendeley*". Remove Mendeley and install it again. You can also try mendeleydesktop --http.

I've repackaged mendeley. Can you try this PKGBUILD?

sispus commented on 2018-04-20 15:00 (UTC)

Whats the output of mendeleydesktop --debug-launcher? Post pastebin. Which DE do you use?

I was just checking the package in more details and I got it to work with system packages (qt, ssl, etc.). Maybe I will repackage it this weekend.
