Yes, the kernel source does not supply the closed-source nvidia drivers; you need to do that manually or use nouveau in the kernel.

yes I am using linux-ck normally just thought of using the linux-ck with less modules. Do I need to recompile the nvidia-ck _after_ the rebuild of linux-ck with less modules?

I suspect your problem has absolutely nothing to do with modprobed-db... did you build the corresponding nvidia-ck package for your hardware? Your choices are, nvidia-ck, nvidia-304xx-ck, and nvidia-340xx-ck.

I tried to use modprobed-db with combination of linux-ck. Everything seemed to worked fine (and I got almost the half of modules compiled) but the graphical interface didn't load. Does it require something special for nvidia?

not quite...there are thousands of AUR's in sonamed Gentoo Overlays. You can add them, remove them, create one of your own. System tracks them using revision control systems (git, mercurial, subversion). I created my own, and since i missed modprobed-db, i wrote an ebuild for it. :)

@v3 - Very nice. I don't know how gentoo works. Is there an AUR equivalent?

V3n3RiX commented on 2014-02-09 23:08

I wrote a Gentoo ebuild for it, works magic...

Yes, this works for me! Thanks for all the help.

@jayflo - Can you try out the test version?

https://github.com/graysky2/modprobed-db/tree/unstable

Just manually replace /usr/bin/modprobed-db with common/modprobed-db.in (as root) and also chmod it +x (again as root). If it works for you, I'll merge unstable-->master and update.
