@graysky could you provide the information from readme.install in the source-tarball if people want to use this for other distros...

@archman - all modprobed_db does it keep track of modules your system has probed. If you're using it with 'make localmodconfig' which I believe you are, your beef is not with modprobed_db but with the 'make localmodconfig' if extra modules are getting built into your system.

Well, I've tried using this program and it still builds, in example, nouveau, and I only need i915. There's no nouveau in the db file. Any ideas why it's building useless modules?

@kyak - yes, I have to email everyone invoking this who is maintaining a PKG to have them add a "sudo" to that line. So you can modify it yourself and it will work provided your user has sudo rights to /usr/bin/reload_database Make sense?

kyak commented on 2011-11-30 18:14 (UTC)

ok, it broke linux-bfs (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=50934). Probably there are other packages that depend on reload_database calling sudo modprobe rather than executing "sudo reload_database".

kyak commented on 2011-11-30 18:03 (UTC)

what i meant is that i build kernel-bfs from AUR, and the package automatically runs "reload_database", which is not working correctly now (Error inserting...)

kyak commented on 2011-11-30 18:00 (UTC)

So i have to run make localmodconfig as root now?

Thank you.

Good idea. Technically, it isn't needed at all.

Can you please make sudo dependency optional?
