You cannot have 2 packages that provide the same kernel module for the same kernel version. The
nvidiaofficial package provide a module for thelinuxkernel (Arch Linux version). Installingnvidia-470xx-dkmsalso provide the same module (but older version) for the samelinuxkernel version (since dkms). How the kernel is going to choose which version to pick?Also without the
conflict, it makes the transition fromnvidiapackage tonvidia-470xx-dkmsa bit complicated... Firefox EGL on the NVIDIA proprietary driver will become the default once the NVIDIA 495 driver series is more widely adopted. It's only with the NVIDIA 495 driver series that recently hit beta where the EGL_NV_robustness_video_memory_purge extension is present that is needed by Firefox.
