lothar_m: What do you mean we need to do?

With firefox 40.0.2, add to edit install.rdf to get this package to work. Otherwise FF refused to activate the Addon.

NOTE TO ALL USERS: This package will now change name to pentadactyl-git to reflect upstream change. This may require manual intervention with your AUR wrapper/updater. As noted previously, the upstream hg -> git change implies a different version numbering, so pacman may warn about a downgrade the first time you upgrade after the change to git. Thanks lahwaacz for walking me through the name change process.

Click the "File Request" button under "Package Actions" on this page, select "Merge", fill in the form and submit. Mentioning that you are the maintainer of both packages might speed up the process. More info about the requests: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_User_Repository#Other_requests

Done, pentadactyl-git has been uploaded. How does one go about asking the TUs to merge the packages?

lahwaacz commented on 2015-04-10 11:38 (UTC)

Please rename the package to pentadactyl-git to reflect the upstream change. Once the new PKGBUILD is uploaded, this package can be merged into it by the TUs in order to preserve comments, votes etc. Doing so right away would make the transition smoother, changing pentadactyl-hg -> pentadactyl-git should be completely understandable for the users, changing pentadactyl-hg -> pentadactyl-hg with git sources isn't. There is probably no way to avoid necessity of user intervention, but that's all right as long as the steps are understandable.

There is the option of using `replaces=pentadactyl-hg`, although that wouldn't help someone who only uses their AUR helper to check for updates. Then again, perhaps it shouldn't be too much to ask of the users to check the comments here every now and then - especially when something breaks (which is why I came here today).

Updated. Sorry 'bout the delay. Thank you donbex. NOTE: The hg -> git change implies a change in version number system. So pacman will warn (incorrectly) about a downgrade the first time you update after the hg -> git change.

Here is an updated PKGBUILD: http://ix.io/h0v It should probably be called "pentadactyl-git" now, but I don't think there is any easy way to change a package's name (other than making a new package).

This project has moved to github.com/5digits/dactyl/ since Google Code is shutting down.
