tridus: I want to help resolve these problems, but since I am unable to reproduce them on any of my systems, you will have to do some digging. First of all, since you find that the upstream nightly "has serious bugs" it could be that something is broken on your system. Have you done a full system upgrade + reboot lately? (Partial upgrades are unsupported and all that.) If this still persists after a full system upgrade, we will dig some more. To dig some more into this problem, please do the following: 1) start another installation of pentadactyl-hg with yaourt/packer/whatever 2) when it comes to the point that the package is built and it says e.g. "Finished making: pentadactyl-hg 7157.c3febd64bcc2-1", please write down the full version (such as 7157.c3febd64bcc2) and post it in your message here. Let the build be at this stage and open another terminal window. 3) in this terminal, go to the folder where yaourt/packer builds the package (e.g. /tmp/packerbuild-1000/pentadactyl-hg/pentadactyl-hg) and find the .tar.xz package file. Write down the file size and md5sum of this and post it in your message here. Then I can attempt to replicate your build of the same hg checkout and verify that the md5sum matches.

@AsmundER: Your package didn't work for me, like, at all, in Firefox 36. I can see it in about:addons as installed, but it doesn't change the interface, I just get vanilla Firefox. But if I install the latest nightly build from http://5digits.org/nightlies I do get a working interface (with some serious bugs).

x4fyr: can you explain in more detail what goes wrong? I just built this on my machine without problems and got version 1.2pre-hg7157 which works fine with ff36. tridus: why did you flag this as out-of-date? It always pulls the latest version from the mercurial repo. Everyone: does anyone know why I am not notified when people comment on this package? I have notifications enabled, and I was notified of the out-of-date flag, but I was not notified of x4fyr's comment.

Something is going wron while istallation. If I build on my one I get a working 1.2pre-hg7140-default version, but with this pkgbuild it is 1.1 version, that is not working and also repoertet ad not compatible with ff35

Thans rnestler and lestb for the feedback. The PKGBUILD has been updated and is namcap-clean and architecture independent now.

rnestler commented on 2015-01-12 19:59 (UTC)

Namcap gives the following warnings/errors: pentadactyl-hg W: No ELF files and not an "any" package pentadactyl-hg E: Missing custom license directory (usr/share/licenses/pentadactyl-hg) pentadactyl-hg W: Dependency included and not needed ('firefox') The first two should be easy two fix and the last one may be changed to an optdepend

Can you change the architecture from (i686 x86_64) to (any) since the resulting package is architecture independent.

Updated to maxVersion=40 now.

AsmundEr commented on 2014-12-02 10:13 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. I'll change maxVersion to 40 immediately. I was working on a PKGBUILD that checks the currently installed FF version and sets maxVersion to that plus one. I'll try to finish that and upload it this weekend.
