Yeah mate, I'd definitely appreciate that.

Yeah building qt kind of sucks, you may not need to build all the packages though. I built the full package but I think plex-media-player only requires qt5-webengine. So you may just be able to get away with building the base and webengine portions. I updated my system this morning and currently rebuilding so could upload the pkg files somewhere if that helps(assuming my build is successful.) Let me know.

Seems like I'll wait till the binary version of qt5.6 will be avaliable, compiling it took quite a while and close to the end I received an error which made the build fail :(

As promised plex-media-player PKGBUILD http://pastebin.com/rvdJyEZc It is being built from GIT. "_webclientver=62b0efd" seems to change as they update it so that may need to change. Also when using "-DQTROOT=/usr/include/qt" in the cmake command, it wants to write a .conf file in that folder, I wasn't sure how to go about fixing that other than by patching plex-media-server's "QtConfiguration.cmake" file. I just created the file/folder for the conf file with write permissions for now. Maybe I will look at creating a patch file. Here is the PKGBUILD for qt5.6 http://pastebin.com/H7JA6Rex. I basically just took the official PKGBUILD for QT5 in the repo's and edited until it built successfully. Be warned it take a LONG time to build. Mind you I was using an old Core2Duo so if you are on a more modern machine it should go quicker, hopefully. I could post up the actual packages I built if anyone is interested but if your pkg versions don't match exactly I guess it wouldn't work.

Sadly it looks like the files they were hosting for this release are actually gone this time so you would have to build from git.

@SummerRainbowz I will try to post them up when I get home from work tonight or tomorrow sometime @normanu PlexPass is still required at the moment. I signed up for a month just to play around with the new software. It's only $4.99 for a month, not too shabby to be honest.

@ould It would be great if you could share those PKGBUILDs.

Can this be used already without Plexpass? Or is it better to wait?

I have managed to get both QT 5.6 Beta and the lasted plex-media-player git to build on my test system sucessfully. I can't really test out plex-media-player's functionality though as I don't currently have a plex pass. I may subscribe for a month just to play around with it. If anyone has any interest in the PKGBUILDs for both I could post them up somewhere. :-) Also the patches for Qt seem to have been already merged into the latest beta so are not needed anymore as far as I can tell.

Looks like the latest url is now https://nightlies.plex.tv/directdl/plex-dependencies/plex-web-client-plexmediaplayer/latest/plex-web-client-konvergo-f9aee64.cpp.tbz2 I will bother keeping this updated once Qt 5.6 is actually out.
