@rsa This package is just a patch on top of the normal redshift; enabling wayland means it can do that functionality in addition to what redshift normally supports and is a proper "provides". If you use both Sway and i3, for example, you'd need to uninstall one redshift and install another to switch between the two, as they'd conflict but offer mutually exclusive functionality.

Why enable randr and vidmode if this package is geared towards Wayland?

Thanks for the info @minus, the version is adjusted now.

@ainola, yeah, just confirmed that it works on my laptop w/ intel graphics, but not my PC w/ AMD graphics.

(sorry for the delay, btw)

I squashed a lot of commits, thus the version number that gets generated is lower than the one given in the PKGBUILD, thus yay rebuilds it every time I upgrade. Could you adjust the version please? The current version is 1.12.r25.geecbfed

@aionola This is strange, this works really well with my current Sway setup. Did you use set the wayland backend?

drak3, e00E, perchance are you two running AMD graphics cards? I believe that the wlroots gamma protocol is currently broken for amdgpu.

drak3 commented on 2019-03-20 23:33 (UTC)

@e00E, i'm getting the same error. I'm on Sway

ainola commented on 2019-03-18 00:36 (UTC)

@m45t3r, I can't get this to work on sway/wlroots, and I appear to not be the only one. I'd argue against using that branch until those issues are fixed: Gnome and Plasma have this functionality built-in, which really only leaves sway as the big Wayland player that needs this functionality. The current branch is breaky but at least works.

Would you please consider to switch it to https://github.com/jonls/redshift/pull/704? This is based in a more recently upstream.

Here is a patch:
