I see that the latest update on the package was naturally there's a new update today.

@lybin Oops, turns out I already had this package which creates a symlink. Seems more convenient for installers than compiling udev if it works, which it seems to, but probably doesn't matter.

I'm calm man but @sergey asked how to do it and it's been a couple of weeks since I noticed the update which wouldn't matter if Upwork made the application usable while at a legacy version. Plus, I had to write a new PKGBUILD anyways...why not share it and the process with the people who are asking? So I did. Apparently that and emailing you were the right steps as it was soon updated.

Thanks Lev!

To anyone having issues with the package being out of date:

Here's the updated PKGBUILD:

In case the maintainer is slow to update in the future here's how you do it:

1. Go to

2. Select Debian-based 32bit
3. right click the download button and select 'copy link address'
4. Replace the `source_i686()` link in the PKGBUILD with the new one
5. download the .deb file

6. Select Debian-based 64bit
3. right click the download button and select 'copy link address'
4. Replace the `source_x86_64()` link in the PKGBUILD with the new one
5. download the .deb file

7. run `md5sum` on the 32bit package
8. paste the 32bit md5sum in the `md5sums_i686()` method

9. run `md5sum` on the 64bit package
10. paste the 64bit md5sum in the `md5sums_x86_64()` method

11. Update the pkgver to match the new version

Voila, the PKGBUILD should now upgrade upwork successfully.

@CyberWalrus, Can you show output, please: pacman -Qo /usr/lib/

CyberWalrus commented on 2015-07-30 15:52

I also removed the dependency on libudev0 as my system seems to already have /usr/lib/ and upwork works fine.

@lybin the client should be updated again. Can you provide basic details how to do that manually editing PKGBUILD?
Every time they update the client I can't use Upwork app on Arch Linux. This is extremely annoying and stops me from working. I'd appreciate if you share details here, so I can update correctly on my end.
