Dear users,

fofix upstream hasn't released a stable tag in 3 years.

This package is long broken, and stuck on python2. Its python2-pygame dependency is EOL since 2021 and cannot be built on current Arch Linux due to binary ABI incompatibility with portaudio.

Please have a look at fofix-git. It is also broken at the moment and an orphan. But it can be updated to Python3, as upstream continues to bring updates to the master branch, and supposedly now the code works with Python3 dependencies.

Hi Aznorth.

Thanks for the report :). Seems like there are two issues:

  • python2-pillow depends on python2-pytest, which is not very useful for the end user
  • python2-pytest is missing several dependencies.

If you can install pillow without pytest, you should be released of those missing dependencies, I think.

Hi, Arch repositories are missing some python2 dependencies that fofix need. Is it a known problem ? I do known that fofix is still using python2, but is there a way to build it and anyway make it work properly ?

yay indicates me that these are the concerned dependancies:

        python2-setuptools-scm (Dependencies of: fofix -> python2-pillow -> python2-pytest)
        python2-py (Dependencies of: fofix -> python2-pillow -> python2-pytest)
        python2-pluggy (Dependencies of: fofix -> python2-pillow -> python2-pytest)
        python2-more-itertools (Dependencies of: fofix -> python2-pillow -> python2-pytest)
        python2-funcsigs (Dependencies of: fofix -> python2-pillow -> python2-pytest)
        python2-atomicwrites (Dependencies of: fofix -> python2-pillow -> python2-pytest)
        python2-wcwidth (Dependencies of: fofix -> python2-pillow -> python2-pytest)
        python2-pathlib2 (Dependencies of: fofix -> python2-pillow -> python2-pytest)
        python2-importlib-metadata (Dependencies of: fofix -> python2-pillow -> python2-pytest)

thank you, there are more issues though.

chmod -R 777 $pkgdir/opt/fofix

mode 777 is certainly not a good thing.

needs patching due to this problem (putting 2 spaces in front of return does it):

File "/opt/fofix/src/Audio.py", line 225
    return numpy.zeros(size, dtype='h')
         ^
IndentationError: expected an indented block

Can also confirm that it just completly crashes and have to force kill in multiple random places while navigating the menu.
