@harvey : thanks, I wasn't aware of this Brother-scanner topic. I got it yesterday when I tried to download the driver .deb file which is the brscan5-1.3.1 . Everyday I learn a new thing. Thx

@koeguounet: Feel free to look at support.brother.com - seeking your printer tells me it needs brscan5 :)

Interesting. I found the link wile browsing the online manual for your DCP-L2510D. So "http://machine's IP address" does not display a web Interface?
brikler commented on 2024-02-11 17:28 (UTC)
i haven't, but if, it wouldn't help, because
Related Models:DCP‑L2530DW / DCP‑L2537DW / DCP‑L2550DN / MFC‑L2710DN / MFC‑L2710DW / MFC‑L2730DW / MFC‑L2750DW
, and i use a `DCP-L2510D" :(Harvey commented on 2024-02-11 16:46 (UTC)
Please don't tell me you haven't read the manual for your hardware. See https://support.brother.com/g/s/id/htmldoc/mfc/cv_mfcl2750dw/uke/html/GUID-B9C82443-2E3C-438B-964E-7FF9A63A0C4A_414.html?c=eu_ot&lang=en&prod=dcpl2510d_eu&broug=in

a web interface for the scanner? how can i use it? btw, i tried it with the latest ubuntu in a livesystem, and the result was:
scanimage: open of device brother4:net1;dev0 failed: Invalid argument

All of our Brother scanner/printers have a web-Interface to set such things up. I'm out of ideas now. Network scans are working on our hardware is all I can say. Maybe someone else has a hint.
