You'll either need to import fraggle's public key (available here: https://soulsphere.org/gpg-key.txt or https://keybase.io/fraggle), or run makepkg with --skippgpcheck

Got the following error when trying to build today:

curl: (22) The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found
==> ERROR: Failure while downloading http://chocolate-doom.org/downloads/3.0.0/chocolate-doom-3.0.0.tar.gz
    Aborting...
Error downloading sources: chocolate-doom (chocolate-common chocolate-doom)

Seems that the source is not available via HTTP anymore. For example:

$ curl http://chocolate-doom.org/downloads/3.0.0/chocolate-doom-3.0.0.tar.gz
This works however:

$ curl https://www.chocolate-doom.org/downloads/3.0.0/chocolate-doom-3.0.0.tar.gz

The pgp keys are not in the srcinfo. This is because you are using the defunct mksrcinfo over makepkg --printsrcinfo.

Ahh, yes. I had forgotten about that. I made the change upstream myself :-) Thanks for the reminder.

According to the changelog you don't have to change the binary dir anymore.

Your tarball has some issues. AUR guidelines suggest to not include binaries. Take for example: chocolate-doom/chocolate-doom.png chocolate-doom/chocolate-setup.png "Just an icon" you say, but I think you can do better. Thank you.
