Today I tried to understand what makes crash-mate compiz, the offending files are two: caja-gtk3-1.16.0-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz mathjax-2.7.0-1-any.pkg.tar.xz if you install these two compiz crashes files, you can use it only with metacity, my current version of metacity: metacity-3.20.3-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz I tried to install compiz as yoghurt, but I get more and spread error. r/gwd-theme-cairo.c.o [ 2%] Building C object gtk/window-decorator/CMakeFiles/gtk-window-decorator.dir/gwd-theme-metacity.c.o [ 2%] Linking C executable gtk-window-decorator /usr/bin/ld: impossibile trovare -lcairo /usr/bin/ld: impossibile trovare -lcairo collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status make[2]: *** [gtk/window-decorator/CMakeFiles/gtk-window-decorator.dir/build.make:540: gtk/window-decorator/gtk-window-decorator] Error 1 make[1]: *** [CMakeFiles/Makefile2:1938: gtk/window-decorator/CMakeFiles/gtk-window-decorator.dir/all] Error 2 make: *** [Makefile:161: all] Error 2 ==> ERRORE: Si è verificato un errore in build(). Sorry about the delay folks! I've had a rather busy week. As always, thanks to muktupavels for the fix. Version 0.9.13.0-8 should work now. Please let me know if there are any further issues.

After latest gtk3 update (gtk3 3.22.1+8+ge11df6c-2) gtk-window-decorator searches for libmetacity.so.0 libmetacity.so.0.0.0 but metacity creates usr/lib/libmetacity.so.1 usr/lib/libmetacity.so.1.0.0 and copmiz-decorator cant run after renaming and creating new symlinks compiz-decorator runs ok. Also changing themes getting error gtk-window-decorator --metacity-theme Adwaita-X-dark --replace gtk-window-decorator: symbol lookup error: gtk-window-decorator: undefined symbol: meta_button_layout_new maybe all related with latest gtk3 or metacity

Hello I installed two archlinux-mate one to three years, the other for about six months. I installed the old mate: popo ector @ ~ $ pacman -Qs compiz local / compiz 0.9.13.0-7      Manager for Composite AIGLX and Xgl, with plugins and CCSM local / emerald-themes 0.8.12.1-1 (compiz-fusion compiz-fusion-kde compiz-fusion-gtk)      Themes for emerald local / fusion-icon0.9 0.2 + gitceff5be-1      Simple tray icon for Compiz 0.9 and GTK3 popo ector @ ~ $ pacman -Qs metacity local / metacity 3.22.0-1      Window manager of GNOME Flashback popo ector @ ~ $ and everything works. the new mate, after ver GTK3 I upgraded to the old compiz, because you can not install the latest version, today after all updates impossible to use compiz-emerald even after metacity downgrade. if you want more info, feel free to ask. Ps] I'm not expert

@Chazza: Thanks for the info. I can confirm that rolling back to /metacity-3.20.3-1 cures the compiz build issue.

Thanks for the heads up ckoresko. It looks like some header file has been removed from metacity 3.22. At the moment, please try downgrading metacity to 3.20. Schedule permitting, I'll look more closely at this tomorrow or Friday - otherwise it will have to be the weekend.
