This package reuses the previously created PGO profile to reduce rebuild times while retaining most of the performance benefit of PGO.

Generate a new profile when:

  • You feel there are too many "function control flow change" warnings.
  • Performance drops about 10% below PGO with a fresh profile.

As @direc85 suggested, since @thotypous now owns firefox-hg, and thanks to @nyanbinary:

  1. this package is now rebased upon firefox-nightly;

  2. this package is wayland-only and, meanwhile, firefox-hg contains an "any graphics server" implementation;

  3. Any suggestion can be added through a PR to: https://github.com/chaotic-aur/pkgbuild-firefox-wayland-hg

If you don't want to build yourself, daily builds of this package are available at https://aur.chaotic.cx

The upstream repo for aur/nss-hg had some versioning issue. It should be resolved now. If the problem happens again in the future, the PKGBUID can be edited to use core/nss and core/nspr before building.

maxfact commented on 2024-07-09 16:49 (UTC)

Hello, when compile, i have this error " 0:15.07 ERROR: Package dependency requirement 'nss >= 3.102' could not be satisfied. 0:15.07 ERROR: Package 'nss' has version '3.101beta2', required version is '>= 3.102' "

In the Archlinux repositories there is nss with required version, while the nss-hg nin aur version is lower

How can it be solved?

@xiota Ok, we will wait for further developments

@maxfact aur/xwayland-run-git. If you expand the depends list on the aurweb page, links to packages that satisfy the depends are shown in parentheses.

However, don't waste your time trying to build this package right now... There are some other issues that need to be resolved.

@birdclock I see the issue now, but don't know the cause. Please try aur/firefox-hg and let me know how it behaves. There's probably nothing I can do about it. Most likely possibilities are a wayland-specific problem or some difference between mozilla-central and mozilla-unified repos.

@xiota Nightly I'm using: Version 125.0a1 Build ID 20240226113417

there are no issues with icc profiles in Nightly for at least a year or two now or as long as I can remember..

test profiles can be found here: https://github.com/saucecontrol/Compact-ICC-Profiles

only flags i use: gfx.color_management.display_profile DisplayP3-v4.icc gfx.color_management.mode 1

xiota commented on 2024-02-22 00:48 (UTC)

@birdclock Upstream firefox-nightly binaries, firefox-wayland-hg, and extra/firefox behave the same on my computer. Changes to gfx.color_management.* settings take a long time to take effect, and -.display_profile seems to be ignored (does not match external image viewer).

Please provide a copy of your icc profile, a test image, and a list of all of your gfx.color_managment.* settings, along with a link to the exact upstream nightly binary you are using.

icc color profile(gfx.color_management.display_profile) does not seem to work with this build compared to mozilla's nightly binary
