@cmm11 I added this file /usr/lib/systemd/system/flexget.service with the intention of reducing the running permissions for users who use flexget-webui. Users using the webui can directly run command within the webui. If you have to run these commands from the command line, traditional su cannot do it because the shell of the flexget user is /usr/bin/nologin and login is prohibited.

  • You can run sudo -u flexget flexget -c /var/lib/flexget/config.yml execute --task task_name

  • Or You can use the gosu that I just packaged to implement: sudo gosu <user>:<group> <command>, for example: sudo gosu flexget:flexget flexget -c /var/lib/flexget/config.yml execute --task task_name.

If you are using /usr/lib/systemd/system/flexget.service, you can add a alias in your shell rc file: alias flexget="sudo -u flexget /usr/bin/flexget -c /var/lib/flexget/config.yml or alias flexget="sudo gosu flexget:flexget /usr/bin/flexget -c /var/lib/flexget/config.yml".

After taking over Flexget, I had

  • Added flexget-webui and flexget-webui-v1 in optdepends, you can install and enable webui if you need. When using webui, it is recommended to use /usr/lib/systemd/system/flexget.service I have newly added.
  • Fixed dependency packages.
  • Added /usr/lib/systemd/system/flexget.service to run as a system user, the original methods that run as normal user still exists: /usr/lib/systemd/system/flexget@.service and /usr/lib/systemd/user/flexget.service.

If upgrade fail, you should remove old flexget first, and reinstall.

@redbaron there is an issue open with guessit in their github. you can comment to show support/urgency if you like. the issue is with dateutil functionality breaking guessit tests that might get removed. https://github.com/guessit-io/guessit/issues/329

Hello, reinstalled flexget from zero (deleted all dependencies and orphaned python packages), python2-guessit asked for python2-dateutil<2.5.2 which is not available in repository so I installed 2.5.1 from archive and then flexget fully installed. Bu when running "flexget check" it gives error: pkg_resources.DistributionNotFound: The 'guessit<=2.0.4' distribution was not found and is required by FlexGet but in dependencies from PKGBUILD python2-guessit>=2.0.3 (python2-guessit-git) is required.

BTW, guppy (opt. dep.) no longer compiles, on python3: https://sourceforge.net/p/guppy-pe/bugs/17 Perhaps a patch can be useful, :-) See, it was reported on 2012-01, updated on 2014-05, and since then the bug hadn't been attended. Therefore a patch would be great... Meanwhile I'd guess it can be removed from the opt. deps. if using python3... Tha of course if in the mood to migrate to python3, :-)

Thanks for the comments. For now I just updated it to the latest version still using python2, I will look into the migration to python3 and the creation of all dependency packages.

Thanks, I asked in upstream IRC, and decided to use virtualenv + pip do install it for a given user.

Unfortunately I do not think this is possible. In fact I guess it would require some modification of the code of Flexget to be more "modular". But I fear we can't do much on the "packaging" side since flexget will not even start if one dependency is missing. Maybe you could ask this question "upstream" (in https://github.com/Flexget/Flexget/issues)

Any idea to stripe off the so many python dependency? Or is there any option to disable features which I won't need? Personally speaking, I just need flexget to filter torrents and download to given dir. Nothing more, the dependency makes me quite scared though.
