For those that are just looking for a transparency mode in gnome-terminal and don't need the notification feature I would like to refer those to gnome-terminal-transparency by hoschi.

@giuseppe
Did you install the latest vte3-notification? The previous version (0.46.1-2) had the wrong patch. Latest version (0.46.1-3) fixes this. Are notifications working for other apps, like Firefox or GNOME Clocks? You probably do, but could you make sure you have libnotify installed?

EDIT:
OK, saw your edit now!

@dsboger
I set gnome-terminal as login shell, I added "source /etc/profile.d/vte.sh" to my ~/.bashrc but notifications don't work.

Anyway there's no "Terminal" in Settings>Notifications.

Am I missing something? Do I have to install some additional packages?

EDIT:
Nevermind. I was launching gnome-terminal with the command "dbus-launch gnome-terminal" (as a workaround to prevent startup crashes). Removing "dbus-launch" makes notifications work.

@giuseppe I think it should be enabled by default, as long as you have the patched vte3-notification packages. One think to notice is to make sure that /etc/profile.d/vte.sh is sourced by your shell. Take a look at this page: https://github.com/gnunn1/terminix/wiki/VTE-Configuration-Issue. It is for another terminal, but Terminix is also based on VTE and the issue/solution is the same.

How do I enable notifications?

SunRed commented on 2016-10-30 17:21

Since git.gnome.org doesn't respond with the git protocols, I just did it the classic way.
Also I'm going to disown gnome-terminal-fedora and vte3-notification because I am moving away from gnome-ish desktops but I also don't have the time currently to maintain these packages.

Hello!
I've you add the patches from Fedora to 3.22 you will likely hit a problem the the hungarion po-file. If just added the translation-strings at the bottom of the file, looks like the patch tries to commend-in a translation which was removed.

Bye

@SunRed:
Thank you. On the next update I will try to use that instead!

There's a couple of patches in 3.20.2-2, especially the dnd-crash one that I'm after. Would you mind adding them in from https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/commit/trunk?h=packages/gnome-terminal&id=3b27c2246b45b66df9b37c4f0ffcad0350d8b279 ?
Thanks
