Yes.

Do you know if Google Earth's 64-bit version require 32-bit libs?
I'd like to install this but am really straining to avoid cluttering up this system with multi-arch dependencies. Thanks.

Changing to PKGEXT=".pkg.tar.lzo". I'll be adding the 'pacman>=4.1' dependency, if there's too many complaints.
E: Here's some statistics:
.tar: 117M/0.14s
.tar.lrzip: 28M/0.15s
.tar.lzop: 59M/0.54s
.tar.gz: 42M/6.0s
.tar.xz 28M/51.1s
E2: Oh, well, no, I can't do that, if lzop's provided by [extra] and not even required by pacman (and if I made it a makedep I might as well use lrzip).
Det commented on 2013-04-03 08:22 (UTC)
No, because that would mean you're downloading both.
The AUR Sources parser doesn't understand "$CARCH" statements or alternative links. Makepkg does. That's why the right one will be downloaded anyway (from the PKGBUILD):
_arch=i386 # Workaround for the AUR Web interface Source parser
[ "$CARCH" = 'x86_64' ] && _arch=amd64
source=("$pkgname-stable_$pkgver_$_arch.deb"::"http://dl.google.com/earth/client/current/$pkgname-stable_current_$_arch.deb"

Strike that, it just needs to be listed in the sources.
anadon commented on 2013-04-03 04:04 (UTC)
Shouldn't the 64 bit version be an option?

Recent updates to various lib32 files prompted me to try google-earth 7 to see if it worked. The program launched but I only got the yellow lines again. Just wanted to test it. GE6 works fine.

Thanks, unfortunate timing then.
For reference, with Gnome shell / wayland I need to
