Well it gets too hard. Doesn't seem to get past "21-aliases-wine-win7-inf.conf" without emptying the whole file.

K, that makes more sense then. I'll have a look at it some time soon.
You were just repeating so much that was already mentioned in the .install that I thought you had no idea it was already covered.
Btw. You can't just ./ the binary without actually cd'ing to the directory in question beforehand. That's why I just use the one line with the full paths.

The instructions in .install instructed people to remove the links to the offending configuration files. My advice was to edit, rather than to delete. Both 60-group-non-tt-fonts.conf and 60-group-tt-fonts.conf contain lists of fonts that are compatible or not compatible with Infinality; deleting those two configuration files (or the links to them) effectively disables, across the board, most of the improvements Infinality provides. Surgically editing the configuration files to comment out the few fonts that cause problems with Google Earth is preferable to deleting the entire thing.

Thank-you for this informative comment.
Except, wasn't this just something I included in the .install LIKE OVER 2 MONTHS AGO?

It appears that Google Earth and Infinality do not play nice with each other. There are several fonts in 60-group-tt-fonts.conf and 60-group-non-tt-fonts.conf that, if not commented out, will cause Google Earth to crash on startup.
In particular, I had to comment out :
DokChampa
Dorsa
Sansita One
You should be able to find the offending fonts by doing the following :
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=.:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH strace ./googleearth-bin 2>&1|grep -B5 string

Who would've thought. I should probably add this to the package and everything!

Thanks, unfortunate timing then.
For reference, with Gnome shell / wayland I need to
to avoid
