I will not update (for now) to the latest version 7.3.6.9326 because it crashes continuously for me.

Thanks, unfortunate timing then.

For reference, with Gnome shell / wayland I need to

unset QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME
unset QT_QPA_PLATFORM

to avoid

Google Earth has caught signal 6.

K. Could be explained by the file being a decade old anyway.

I haven't really been following this, but with my i915, it works a lot smoother with no missing polygons if I remove the libGL in /opt/google

Or is everybody else dead?

Det commented on 2012-03-03 00:54 (UTC)

I guess I could add that to the optional dependencies. Does it work better than the Launchpad libGL.so.1 solution with anybody else?

I have the same problem with flickering and missing polygons with my Intel graphcs. If I turn ON desktop effects, the flickering stops but there are still missing polygons. I just deleted libGL.so from /opt/google/earth/free, i belive that one is from launchpad link mentioned below. And installed package lib32-intel-dri, now it works without any problems.

Det commented on 2012-02-23 23:13 (UTC)

Not by any chance caused by you not checking out the optional dependencies?

I can't use Google Earth. When I launch it, I have this error : Google Earth has caught signal 11. If I don't remove the libGL.so.1 file, GE crashes the xserver, just after loading the interface. But when it loads, it is transparent. http://i.imgur.com/H0MNc.png When I quit, GE crashes http://pastebin.com/TpekLTxv ...Another crash happened while handling crash! he he! 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82865G Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)
