@frigaut: is there any way i can add the path globally so I can use smplayer to play videos with vdpau automatically?

20-nvidia.conf is now provided by nvidia-utils-beta. With more kernels and therefore multiple nvidia packages installed the file would conflict. nvidia-utils is usually installed only once.

Any reason why the 20-nvidia.conf file was removed? Is it no longer necessary (with blacklisting of nouveau)?

@kalpik: same problem initially here. Putting LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/lib/vdpau/" solves it: LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/lib/vdpau/" mplayer -vo vdpau -vc ffmpeg12vdpau dvd://

kalpik commented on 2010-05-23 01:44 (UTC)

Mplayer VDPAU is broken with this update. Though don't know if its cause of the driver or cause of mplayer. Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_nvidia.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory [vdpau] Error when calling vdp_device_create_x11: 1 Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device.

Already made new PKGBUILDs, tested them, and built both packages successfully. PKGBUILDs are here: http://gitorious.org/arch-linux-greece/arch-linux-greece/trees/master/list-of-sources/adslgr64/nvidia-utils-beta http://gitorious.org/arch-linux-greece/arch-linux-greece/trees/master/list-of-sources/adslgr64/nvidia-beta You may find ready packages in our adslgr64 repo.

Updated to 256.25

Det commented on 2010-05-22 10:17 (UTC)

@Hilinus, with 256.25 there is no '-pkg1' ending so those need to be removed from your PKGBUILDs and with the 64-bit version it should be replaced with '-no-compat32' (the former '-pkg2'). So something like this'd probably work: nvidia-utils-beta: http://aur.pastebin.com/xqi0Tyzx nvidia-beta: http://aur.pastebin.com/pwDi9Ptx

Hilinus commented on 2010-05-22 10:17 (UTC)

Mmh, you're right. I had the "-pkg1" prefix because I downloaded the tarball from a different location, so let's wait for the package mantainer and let him fix this. :)
