To build the package you need to manually download the no-jre archive from Oracle's site[1] and place it in the same directory with the PKGBUILD[2] and then run makepkg.

[1], you need "Other platforms"

Updated version to Please take note that Oracle in its eternal wisdom decided to distribute the archive with a dash instead of a dot between 0 and 376.

@brad87 Please read the error messages. Checking the PKGBUILD contents would also be fine, because it explicitly says that you should download the .zip archive with the application itself from Oracle's site as it is not redistributable and requires login.

@bgualda Hey man I appreciate your desire to help, but merge request you've submitted is for merging two different packages into one, according to the Arch Wiki[1]. If there's a new version available you should just mark package out of date. Thanks.

Hello guys, the new version is available.

How can I help to update PKGBUILD ?

YanDoroshenko commented on 2018-10-08 09:39

@g4ruccho Thanks for the suggestion man, I didn't know it doesn't work with jdk10 (nothing does, but still). Will try to do something about it.

How come all open-java8 packages aren't required as dependencies? Been trying to run this for about 30mins because jdk8-openjdk isn't one. jdk10 doens't work with sqldeveloper at least for me.

I had the same error as user ptrstn and after installing java-openjfx it was gone

YanDoroshenko commented on 2018-06-19 13:00

@ptrstn OpenJDK does not include OpenJFX. I found that the hard way :D

I'll try to check, whether it does indeed require OpenJFX and add it as a dependency if it does.

ptrstn commented on 2018-06-19 12:56

Could you add java-openjfx as a dependency?

I got a strange "Problem initializing the JavaFX runtime. This feature requires JavaFX." error when starting SQL Developer. It turned out that OpenJDk does not implement JavaFX and needs to be installed seperately.
