No worries, I've re-enabled the docs for this package by default.
If you want to be added as a co-maintainer for this package btw, just let me know.

WorMzy, sorry, I could've made it more clear in the commit. But my intention of setting build_doc to false by default is so that users who build compton themselves does not have to install asciidoc. For packaging, I think it is better to add asciidoc as dependency and build the man pages.

archtom, I'm guessing you are tiiiecherle@github and/or are following this issue? In which case you are building from a commit that predates (by a day) the decision by upstream to remove the asciidoc makedep by default. In that case, you can either use the PKGBUILD from before this package was updated to reflect that [1], or you can uncomment line #28 [2] to add the asciidoc makedep back in for your build. The current version of the PKGBUILD is only expected to build against origin/HEAD, not historical commits. If you run into problems building the PKGBUILD without alterations, then let me know.
EDIT: Bleh, AUR's markdown made this more difficult than it needed to be.

Thanks for the package. I think asciidoc should be added to the make dependencies. Otherwise it complains about "Program a2x found: NO" and stopts the build. Thanks

Upstream disabled manpages by default, so I updated the package to follow suit. If there's enough demand for them, they're easy enough to re-enable.
EDIT: I've added a way to easily enable manpage generation. Just uncomment the two lines indicated in the PKGBUILD.

Manpages are not available. Can this be included like previous versions?

p4block, if you want, you can come over and open an issue at https://github.com/yshui/compton

Actually I cannot get it to vsync in any way right now. I've tried literally hundreds of settings permutations to no avail.
I used to be able to vsync (albeit at a high performance hit) with drm and vblank_mode=0 but not anymore for some reason.
Literally everything else still has tearing, has massive stutter and frametime issues or is just plain broken.
Worst part is this behavior is related to the kernel's amdgpu, mesa and even the xorg ddx, and "The ConfigTM" has changed over the past few months.
I'm pretty sure that at this moment to get a vsyncd desktop on my desktop right now is to run mutter or a wayland (sway) compositor.
I just had to vent a bit here, I'm following this latest fork closely and hope it ends up working great.

p4block, what is the problem with amdgpu? Could you not use the glx backend or
--vsync opengl
there?Sounds like something worth investigating.
p4block commented on 2018-10-16 11:20 (UTC)
Please add -Dvsync_drm=true to the meson line, as upstream has it disabled by default. It's the only way to get vsync on amdgpu right now.
