@degeberg THANK YOU! works perfectly

I added a bunch of qt5-pmp-* packages to AUR and changed this package to use those instead of the regular packages. This should make it work.

For now, it has to be launched like this:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/qt5-pmp/usr/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH plexmediaplayer

I'm not sure what is the best way of including that in the package. Maybe I'll add a wrapper script.

Wow, that would be awesome. Thanks for the effort @degeberg.

I'm planning on trying to create the relevant qt 5.10 packages and upload them to AUR this weekend. Something like qt5-webengine-pmp etc., and pinning its version to whatever is the latest one that PMP supports. Depending on such a package instead of the one in the official repos should theoretically work.

Doing that is sort of annoying, but it should still be better than not working at all.

@take Indeed. I guess it's time to file for removal of this package from the AUR :/

The PMP team has updated the issue and closed it. They won't be fixing this anytime in the near future.

@zainin - downagrade to QT 5.10 by itself no longer sufficient: Another issue caused by same inability of PMP devs to keep software up-to-date: newest version of icu doesn't work with PMP, downgrade causes mpv to not work. Workaround: downgrade icu, copy following files from /usr/lib/ [libicudata.so.61 libicui18n.so.61 libicuio.so.61 libicutest.so.61 libicutu.so.61 libicuuc.so.61] to e.g. /usr/oldlibs (mkdir first). Run mpm like this LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/oldlibs plexmediaplayer --terminal

Please adjust PKGBUILD add -DLINUX_X11POWER=on to cmake in order to allow plex to disable xscreensaver during playback. Alternatives are using caffeine, which disables xscreensaver any time PMP is running, not just when playing video, or using the screensaver built into plex, which isn't that great imo.

After a recent system upgrade I can't get it to work at all.

Downgrading qt to 5.10 or 5.9 doesn't seem to work anymore (and it breaks KDE anyway...).

Forgive me for the shameless self-promotion (and if it downright breaks AUR etiquette please delete everything posthaste!) but, since this still is an issue, I've been developing an essential CLI client for Plex: https://github.com/Aanok/pmcli

It's a simple little thing but maybe somebody could find it of use in the interim.
