@Ajmar you mean v2.13.0.877-6e1ea2cb? The README still says it targets an older version, and the issue remains open, and saw some activity from the project maintainers 2 hours ago. https://github.com/plexinc/plex-media-player/issues/743

Latest version (2018/7/03) supports Qt5.11 and works out the box.

Edit: My bad, yup still not working. Doesn't give the same error as before though.

Downgraded to qt 5.10 and now it's working again. There's an updated issue here: https://github.com/plexinc/plex-media-player/issues/753 for qt 5.11 support.

I had to install ffmpeg-compat-57 in order to get plexmediaplayer to work after downgrading, apparently ffmpeg 1:4.0-3 doesn't provide it anymore. Maybe this should be a dependency? Otherwise I would get the following error:

plexmediaplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libavcodec.so.57: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Seems the artifacts.plex.tv domain is down currently.

Edit: It's up now roughly 18ish hours later. Not clear on what happened there.

@TaurohtaR You assume well. I am using plex on a dedicated HTPC without a desktop env. Sorry if I led people in more troubles by breaking packages depending on qt.

I specially installed KDE neon in my KVM lab and successfully compiled plex media player with qt5.10. So it is not limited to 5.9.5.

And again today decided to make a backup of my new Antergos KDE system and try to revert mentioned packages and install this package. I guess @carbncl don't use KDE desktop because this breaks qt system and some libraries still expect to have 5.11 version. As result, I was not even been able to see SDDM login screen. After fixing this issue by reverting some qt desktop effects package I realized that I can't log in. Investigation showed error in Xorg log file that really some libraries still expected to see 5.11 version of downgraded packages. So I just reverted back downgraded packages and my KDE desktop now ok, but I wouldn't recommend to downgrade these packages for users that are using KDE desktop with SDDM.

If you have pretty decent NVME SSD like u might find yourself missing free space on your home partition when after starting plex media player with qt 5.11. This time I was prepared and new what to expect and killed process before it occupied all spece just by constantly writing mentioned

[10077:10125:0522/182546.274147:ERROR:gl_surface_qt.cpp(305)] eglCreatePbufferSurface failed and surfaceless context not available
[10077:10125:0522/182546.274149:ERROR:gl_surface_qt.cpp(312)] Requested OpenGL implementation is not supported. Implementation: 0

lines to Xorg log file.

Hopefully this will stop someone from doing the same as myself and recovering system for 2 days :) But here is also positive moment now I have clean system without bunch of configurations for not used anymore packages.

According to https://github.com/plexinc/plex-media-player/issues/743, PMP does not currently support versions of qt above 5.9.5. This should probably be a version requirement as the current build is broken for qt 5.11.0-1.

Had the same problem as hps, can confirm that carbncl's suggestion of downgrading qt5 fixed it for me.

Yesterday tried to downgrade mentioned packages. As result broken Antergos installation. Just reinstalled it.

downgrade qt5-base qt5-declarative qt5-location qt5-quickcontrols qt5-webchannel qt5-webengine qt5-x11extras qt5-xmlpatterns to 5.10 then rebuilding&installing solved the same issue as @hps for me. Beware if you have packages depending on qt such as desktop env like KDE, you might break it.
