There are also lots of AUR packages canon-pixma-*-complete, which contain the “current” scangearmp executable.

Flagged this out of date because scangear has been replaced by scangearmp2. There is already another AUR package for that though. Scangear (old version) claims support for certain Pixmas printers but this one didnt' work for me, so hopefully this saves someone the same trouble.

Why does this extract the source twice? makepkg already does it for you. Edit: er, or not since it's inside the tar.gz. You should still use bsdtar to extract the rpm instead of the useless rpmextract wrapper.
