MajorMayer, build the package locally, I'm not responsible for chaotic-aur, I just deleted the comment recommending precompiled binaries.

Please report these kinds of issues directly to the repo owners.

Edu4rdSHL the prebuilt package provided by the Chaotic AUR still doesn't work for me. I reinstalled it and it's now on "5.3.0beta3-1" but still the same GLIBCXX error as before. Should i report this issue somewhere?

I switched to the signal-desktop-beta-bin package from the AUR which is working fine for me.

MajorMayer, the package in chaotic-aur was very old and doesn't even matched the current version, this was updated today and should work fine now.

Since the update today i get this error: Unhandled Error Error: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.29' not found (required by /usr/lib/signal-desktop-beta/resources/app.asar.unpacked/node_modules/better-sqlite3/build/Release/better_sqlite3.node)

GLIBCXX_3.4.29 would relate to GCC11 which Manjaro Linux doesn't provide atm. Is this because I use the prebuilt version from Chaotic AUR?

Got it, thanks. Also thanks for keeping the package up to date.

makepkg should handle the dependencies correctly anyways, it's more of an aurweb bug.

Good to know, thanks for explaining. I am still a little confused as the npm6 link still links to https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/npm6/ (under dependencies)

kratz00, I submitted the deletion request for npm6 since that upstream AL took my workaround for fixing the Signal build and added npm6 to official repos.

npm6 was deleted today:

polyzen [1] deleted npm6 [2].

You will no longer receive notifications about this package.

The build issue has been fixed, the problem was with the npm version in the repo. See https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Desktop/issues/5118#issuecomment-813175445 for more info.
