This package automatically chooses the language to download and install based on your locale or THUNDERBIRD_PKGLANG; the letter has higher priority.

@cfinnberg

My bad, I taught myself hard never to update checksums for this package. But there is a new beta, so the last update is not so useless.

Hi, thanks for including my patch in the git repo, but we both made an error. The PKGBUILD has to be modified to update the SHA of the modified file.

Anyway, would it be better if this .desktop file checksum is skipped as it comes from the same place than the PKGBUILD? It is not downloaded from any external source...

cfinnberg,

Thank you, I fixed the command and plan to push the changes with a next beta.

The method stated in the PKGBUILD to import the Mozilla key didn't work for me (it didn't found anything). I have to do:

gpg --recv-keys 14F26682D0916CDD81E37B6D61B7B526D98F0353

The fingerprint is the one found in a Mozilla blog post

I would also suggest you to rebuild the package while forcing desired locale, e.g., THUNDERBIRD_PKGLANG='en-US' makepkg -sif. Deletion of old tarball maybe needed. If it works, you may also set this variable somewhere in your shell profile.

I've set my system locale where I'm located, but I like my applications in English.

I now set intl.locale.matchOS to false and restarted Thunderbird, but UI is still in my local language.

Hi @atroxix,

It seems to be caused by intl.locale.matchOS, I grabbed this option from TOR browser as is. Could you please describe a use case why one may want thunderbird locale to be different from system locale?

Any idea why UI language (menus, dialogs, etc.) is always set to my system's locale instead of what has been set in Thunderbird's settings? I've tried setting under Language & Appearance and also in parameter intl.locale.requested under config, but neither method has any effect. UI language was OK with https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/thunderbird-beta-bin though (I've switched because this build seems to be updated more frequently).
